Wouldnt mind betting the holes are there in the floor for the toyota buckets already, my single cab has factory buckets, prob find the surf/4runner ones would go in to with no mods. (wrecker/second hand)

The Sub Imprezza buckets are way cool, they hold ya real good, not sure how they would line ...

For what its worth,
we run a Toyota MR2 (1600) 4AGZE Supercharger on our competion truck, Rover 3.5 litre V8, overdriven by about 25% from memory, running dedicated LPG through a throttle body (sideaffect : LPG helps cool the blower and air charge)

cplux, have heard very bad things about running a h/p in the rear end, there was info over on pirates board

They are designed for the front ends, putting them in the rear, makes them run on the weaker coast side of the ring gear = bye bye teeth.

Whats wrong with the stocker ?????

hey yeah sorry boys, should have made it a bit clearer,
i can only get the bare 4.88 ring and pinions, no diff head ie: ring and pinion swap only

My 1988 (89 shape, 2.8D) Hilux runs the stock 4.3 diffs
I can get my hands on a pair of near new 1981 4.88's at the right price
(they came out of a lux that had 8000 kms from new and the donk was binned in favour of a 327 Chev 8) , a taller ratio required to drop the revs on the V8 )

Actyally Ruff you could be onto something there with the studs, would make lining everything up eaiser too, they are a beotch to hold in place and get a couple of bolts started, and yeah, nuts should be eaiser to work with

BJ , three words for speeding things up, AIR IMPACT GUN , for wheel nuts, and the ring of 14 mm bolts, spins about 1 zillion revs per min, so bolts come out cleanly, not much chance of dropping it behind the rotor, use a deep socket too, with somfing stuffed in da end, so most of the bolt is up ...

SEEMS the Good old Kiwi boys have it all ova ya when it comes to changing C.V.s on the old LUX aye.

We have a half hour break down rule ova here for competitions, more than half hour in the pits and your out. So need to be quick.

And the high pinion 4.8 is only available aftermarket :(

the h p diff heads are in the 80/100 series cruisers and the coiled 70 series
they are 4.1 or 4.3 ratios mostly. sure ...

One guy up this way is running the "BIG" 4.8s apparently are the V6/Turbo diff head, what model had that ratio, im not sure. the pinion is 1/8th " longer, bigger bearings etc. as u mentioned

most late model V6/Turbo were 4.3 or 4.5

so i doubt that anything factory fitted had ...

Hey Ruff that transfer case with the cover plate you posted elsewhere is for PTO output. Ive just got my hands on the same t/case, and ive got a Hilux parts manual that shows it as a PTO cover plate.
