My 1988 (89 shape, 2.8D) Hilux runs the stock 4.3 diffs
I can get my hands on a pair of near new 1981 4.88's at the right price
(they came out of a lux that had 8000 kms from new and the donk was binned in favour of a 327 Chev 8) , a taller ratio required to drop the revs on the V8 )

One guy up this way is running the "BIG" 4.8s apparently are the V6/Turbo diff head, what model had that ratio, im not sure. the pinion is 1/8th " longer, bigger bearings etc. as u mentioned
most late model V6/Turbo were 4.3 or 4.5
so i doubt that anything factory fitted had ...

Hey Ruff that transfer case with the cover plate you posted elsewhere is for PTO output. Ive just got my hands on the same t/case, and ive got a Hilux parts manual that shows it as a PTO cover plate.
