If you read the fine print on the websites for these products, they actually say only painted metal is protected by ERP systems. Search each site - you will find that little gem tucked away in there somewhere. Some crap about electrons flowing through the metal, then onto the paint, and back ...

Ummmm...... the last time I looked, the gears were made of metal. I don't know where you get plastic gears from.....

These winches are fine to use. They are not quick, so probably not good for comps and stuff, but they pull you out of the mud the same as any other winch.
