Now you have something to work on, take it back to the auto shop and ask them the question. They should be able to to test it fairly quickly to see if that is what is happening and why. Could be a wiring fault, a faulty switch, or a fault in the g/box - but you've got something to ask them now... Ha...

Not certain on the surfs, but on a lot of different autos, there is a snow mode - some engage with a specific button, some engage when the 'hold' function is used. The easiest way to test this is find a long section of road, start off and count the gearshifts up. Get up to at least 100k so it gets i...

Drill the idler shaft (8mm) through the centre. Make a large (20-25mm) heavy flat washer for each end. (you'll need to set in an 'o' ring on the gearbox end washer). The gearbox end washer has a threaded hole, the rear one an 8mm hole. Bolt together with a very long capscrew from the rear threaded i...

So you can use the brake, slow it till it's only oding 1000rpm and it will pull away cleanly, but if it actually stops it's hard to get going? What happens if it's pointing down hill, you let it get rolling then put it into drive? When 'it wont go' - what are the revs doing. Do you have low revs, do...

I'm assuming it's a 2L-TE motor? Questions/things to try... 1. You say no power when starting, but OK once it's moving. If you get it moving, drving OK, and then slow it to ALMOST a stop, will it then take off OK? 2. What happens if you give it some revs (say about 2000) and then dump it into drive?...

Re: motor swap
I have a BJ42, the 3b has problems, looking for a new motor. What other motors would fit in without much work needed. would a 2H work? Different intput shaft on the gearbox - the only bolt in is another of the 'B' series. To fit an 'H' or 'F' series you'll need to change you box (or at least replac...

Re: Question: Toyota engines(v6) for Hilux
I was curious about what sort of toyota engines were easy fit on hilux. Basically engines from Supras, crown, soarers and so on. I've heard a few conversions using those sort of engines and I wanted to know if they were worth the conversion and your opinion on them. Thank you CC Lexus/Camry V6 - bu...

Depends on budget but for me Gas the 2F and have it rebuilt to suit.
I have 70Kw at the wheels and just under 500Nm of Torque
Spins 35's up no problem on 3.556 Diff Ratios
With the 5 speed it will sit on 100kh all day long
or rebuild it better (163Kw)
