Thanks for all the suggestions! The two cut ends are really quite mashed up and out-of-round (the pipe had been bent flat, and it's pretty hard to bend it back to round using a crowbar!) so I think the solution would have to be something that goes over the outside of both ends, and is long enough ...

how to join exhaust pipe
I need to join two bits of exhaust pipe together. I had a big kink in it (insufficient departure angle when reversing down a steep hill), so I cut in in two to straighten it out, and now I need to join up the cut. It's in a position such that it doesn't have to be a particularly strong join, it just ...

I got the GMC one from Bunnings a few weeks ago. The choices were that one or an Ozito (sp?) one for the same price, the Ozito one having a cooling fan and being made in China and the GMC one being made in Italy. I have no idea what the transformer is made of, and I didn't think to try comparing the ...

Tailshaft hitting fuel tank
Hi! I've a prado with 2" lifted springs, and when the rear is articulating at some angle the tailshaft meets the fuel tank (on the side of the tailshaft). It particularly rubs on the fuel tank shield. It ripped one of the grease nipples off. I suppose it's an easy fix to cut the shield back a bit ...

- a pressure switch (100/75psi wired in series with the in-cabin compressor switch) to keep the pressure low enough for the lockers, with an override switch for when I'm doing something like filling tyres, in which case the tank would act as a pressure buffer whenever I stop using the air (such as ...

Has anyone tried setting up their air conditioning pump for both air conditioning and air compressing? I'd imagine it might work with a Y-splitter at the inlet and outlet ends of the compressor, and 4 taps to select air / refrigerant. I know you'd loose a bit of refrigerant every time you switched ...

Continuing the thought... How does this set-up look? I did a bit more reading, and I think this would work. I right? http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s94/3am_pics/prado/airsetup.gif The relief valve is there so that the pump starts with a low pressure. I guess it isn't really necessary if the air ...

I'm looking for a compressor as well, but to operate lockers as well as to pump up the tyres. (I just started another topic about that here.)
It sounds like people are recommending OX, Thomas, Boss... would they be suitable for lockers as well?

Installing air locker - what are my options?
Hi all! I just got an ARB locker (with its air line, solenoid and in-cabin switch) second hand. Now I need to buy the rest of the gear to make it work. What are my options? I could get the ARB kit. That would include a compressor (the new, smaller and faster one, I presume), in-cabin switches, air ...

If you haven't, Reverse Garbage has quite a lot of sheet plastic, and in some big pieces, too. If they have the right type you'll get it a lot cheaper than anywhere else!

They're in Marrickville.

Is a bigger exhaust likely to improve my fuel consumtion?
Hi all!
I've damaged my standard exhaust, and I'm trying to work out if it is worthwhile upgrading.
I've a prado 3.4L V6.
Do you think a bigger (dunno how much bigger) exhaust will improve power / economy?

Sourcing cheap control cable
Hi! I'm working on a custom project, and I need custom length control cables (like handbrake cables) with sheaths. I asked at a marine supplies place, and they can supply a 4m length of 2mm dia stainless steel for $92. I was hoping to find something a lot cheaper than that. Any suggestions on where ...
