Re: IS there any after market suspension you'd not recommend

I have had a great run with my Dobinsons to date...approx 7 years a couple cape york trips, 1 half cape trip to P CH Bay(I live in FNQ) and lots of heavy towing the boat.....GQ97 LWB TD4.2.....by lots I mean the car only does about 4-5k a year on average so far and is used to fill all those blokey ...

Re: diesel engine oil

Why bother using oils that are good for 20,000 kays in a truck when you change it at 5k? The reason for synthetic mixes for long life etc is to deal with the duty and retain the required lubricity for the service life. Your td42 required 5k oil changes due to the carbon build up in the oil, what ...

Re: 4.2 TD Runs on then a rough shutdown

I get a little run on and shake nothing peculiar, i talked to a diesel mechanic about something else but got onto the fuel shut off. What he told me is the solenoid shaft coating can flake away this will partially jam it's operation. I got the impression that to change the solenoid out is a lid off ...

Re: Oil filters..

I run z9s on my TD42, from memory they are relative rock catchers compared to the typical offering although in my instance I also run a toilet paper filter so hope that it all better than equals out. The z9s did put an end to my dry starts which was something the genuine, Donaldson, fleet guard and ...

Re: retrofit standard steel GU bullbar to GQ..hard??

Sim

I like that bar!, although is it strictly illegal?

The fairlead protrusion , the eye bolts, the lack of guard over tyres.

If it is legal it would be a nice bar to own.

TN if it's in the way :finger:

Here is the Ironman protector bar actually fitted to a GQ, note how low it sits compared to the pics above: http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/fnqcairns/BBT010OLDSTYLE.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Anyone think it looks good? is there a better looking fairly typical bar out ...

Re: retrofit standard steel GU bullbar to GQ..hard??

Sim great pics thanks! now the situation does make better sense, in that pic the top plate of the bullbar is raised something like 100mm above where the GQ bullbar would sit so it now covers much of the grill to the very bottom line of the headlights and here is where the problem with the wings ...

I have been through this and by luck I didn't choose the 2 pot mod to fix my crappy GQs braking ability, for a while there i was convinced i had no choice but to go twin, I was wrong! Don't bother with the 2 pot brakes, single pot GQ brakes work perfectly well if they are well setup and to spec ...

Re: retrofit standard steel GU bullbar to GQ..hard??

I have got a little further along tape measure in hand, for anyone who might consider the idea in the future....a GU bar will not fit because the distance from the top of the Bullbar plate work to the underside of the tube is near 80mm short. This leaves the tube covering near 1/3 of the top of the ...
