Re: 90's+ Discovery fuel costs

300tdi is an older style diesel, mechanical injection, turbo and intercooler. Manual Only. Td5 came in the series II Discovery, same capacity 2.5 but 5 cylinder instead of 4, injected newer style turbo diesel. Td5 has more power but personally I think the real advantage is that the series II has a ...

Definately get new ones if you can, reset springs very rarely last very long before they sag again, even when the top spring makers do it. It is like using retreads, great at first but soon leed to disapointment

That is probably replacement of u bolts, if they have worn and the axle is moving they may well be dangerously thin (have a look at them yourself and see if they all look even or some are thinner) likewise shackle pins, if the bushes are gone metal on metal will wear very quickly, remember these ...

Do you happen to know what year pajero, and which engine it is for?? (If so I will post up the safari part number for those interested.)

And would it fit a Rocky? (The Roza and Rocky seem similar in the angle around the windscreen/bonnet)

Feroza, pulsar are good but the Roza seats were very comfy (both of my Roza's were SXII with the buckets) Pulsar seats are good too but if the roza seats bolt straight in I can be persuded to fork out some cash instead of fitting the free ones!)

Through my work I received an internal bulletin recently, the Safari Snorkel is not a safari snorkel but an imitation one. Be aware the plastic is not UV stabilised so watch for cracking around the mounts and also general brakedwown of the snorkel body. BUT if you get one cheap enough and are happy ...

As long as the front hubs are engaged and you have selected 4h or 4l you should be in 4x4. If you were already stuck then it may not have been able to engage. Best way is to go to some dirt somewhere, engage 4x4 high with the front hubs locked (worth double checking... it is easy to accidentaly find ...

What is the charge rate from your alternator? Perhaps on it's last legs and is struggling to provide any additional power other than running the basics?

The other thing to remember is vehicles like Patrols and Cruisers NEED the left as they have shocking ramp over angles due to the long wheel base. A roza like most small 4x4's has the ability to ride over the humps, ride in the washouts etc that the big wagons are forced to try and bridge. Picking ...

Possibly an earthing issue? Have you taken off and cleaned the main earths. (There is likely to be one between the battery and the body then also the body to the engine)

How long do your glow plugs stay on for in the morning? Might be a faulty glow plug relay not providing sufficient heat before you try to start. Maybe give the glow plug circuit 2-3 runs before you try strating and see if that works.

Thanks. No the bar is a 75 Series Cruiser Ute bar (ARB) the chassis on the Rocky is actually further apart so need to (not finished yet...) modify the mounts by cutting out the outside faces and welding new ones in. It also sits about 20mm wider than the vehicle on both sides but as it wraps around ...

I'd try replacing the diaphram in the primer pump (or the whole assembly) Especially if you park on a hill overnight, if it is cracked/split etc it allows the fuel to drain back to the tank then it can be a mongrel to get started, if you can start it at all. As a test you could try clamping the fuel ...

Mods to my 85 LWB Rocky

Thought it was about time I shared some mods on my vehicle. This is set up more with daytrips/touring in mind than all out 4x4 ability.

Anyway here's a link to pics...

And I wouldn't go using the hand brake to slow you down. They are trans mounted and designed to hold the vehicle not slow it. It will get very hot, very quick and either fail or catch fire. The previous advice on throttle + brakes is a much safer and practicle one.

Is there a particular reason you want the Rocky ones? If not Bainbridge do two really good quality fuse boxes (you can get them through ARB, no doubt other accessory stores too)

There is a 6 and 12 circuit units. Common buss, the 6 is around $50 from memory.
