Hi i gained all my power back and more on Lpg by 5kw buy fitting a Unichip.
Setup with dual mapping.And dyno tuned.about $1200 fitted and Dyno tuned.
As lpg is about 105 octane they can tune the engine much better.
and when you switch to ulp 91 octane, the switch is wired to the unichip and runs on ...

The valve stem seals in my 95 model 80 are leaky.
It started blowing smoke at about 140 000 klm. using 15w/40 engine oil.
Try using different oil.
The owner manual suggest 15w/40 or 20w/50 engine oil.
I now use 20w/50 and reduced oil consumption and smoke.

Had one fitted 12 months ago cost me $1295 with dual mapping as i am running lpg. Havn't notiiced much change in the fuel economy on either LPG ,or ULP
But did make an over all improvement on preformance and the engine pulls a lot harder and revs a lot smoother through out the range.

place in melbourne, nippondenso they do all the reco work and supply new compresors as well there was a phone number.

My 80 is manual gxl fulltime 4wd 2" lift 285/75/16 BFG AT tyers.
And unichiped.I get 300/350klm from 90 liters lpg city.
And 380/420 klm from 90 liters lpg hyw,variations due to
speed, head wind, loaded roof rack,airconditioner running,etc etc,

fuel pump relay

If you have ABS Have look where the radio antena access hole in the engine bay,mine is there on a 12mm bolt just in side the guard real easy to get at it even has fuel pump written on it. I have seen your truck may be you should get a higher box to stand on!!!!

Just had unichip fitted with dual mapping and dyno tuned 4 weeks ago to my 80 series .
On 91 octane std ulp it went from 54kw to 55.7kw.
On lpg 105 octaine it went from 54kw to 56.4kw.
driving all 4 wheels with 285/75/16 AT tyers.
Dosn't look much but makes a BIG difference drives much better.

Definately remove the belt no problem ,it's not hard to get at the tension pully it is allso a good idear to change the bearing in that as well about $12.
Once the belt is of you can check the compressor pully for end play and up and down movement .And as you describe the melted plastic,

Hey guzzla i have an 80 had the same thing happen 3 weeks ago.
The front bearing on the aircon pully seized,not uncommon,
Unfortunately what happens it will flog out the alloy housing it sits on.
and you could be up for a reco,or 2nd hand compressor or new one.
Plus regassing fitting ect.not cheap ...
