TB42 Fuel Injector Dimensions + Part Numbers

I am converting my tb42 to efi using a delco computer off vn and am chasing some info on the std fuel injectors. I have an efi inlet manifold but no injectors so am trying to find suitable injectors. The delco ecu requires high impedance injectors so would prefer these but can use lows with ...

ok dug up me measurements.. Standard: Piston flush with block Head gasket 1.2mm thick @96mm = 8.7cc Measured combustion chamber = 87.8cc using burette and perspex Swept volume = (3.14*9.6^2/4)*9.6 = 695cc therefore compression ratio = (695+(87.8+8.7))/(87.8+8.7) = 8.2:1 now because the actuall ...

i'll try and remember to dig up the figures..

From a bad memory i took off 2mm to get it up to 9:1.
piston was basicall level with block so just head gasket thickness for squish area.
dodn't even bother checking for valve clearance the cams barely have a bump on em..

ah cool the dirty ol pertronix, i do have a ignitor 2 but it has variable dwell which would prob dick with ecu timings.. the delco setup (all 3.8 v6 and 5l v8 dunnydores) can easily have dual tables but for crank angle uses a proximity sensor on crank and am unsure whether you can replicate it ...

yes have had reasonable search prior to post... looking to change carby to efi with later plans of forced fedness. got tb42 efi inlet manifold and tons of vl rb30 gear lying around and also 3.8 v6 car. don't want gas or maf, rules out nistune for rb30 setup therefore could use kalmaker delco or ...

tb48 completely different configuration motor. ohc vs ohv...
As stated previously what you need to find out is whether you have enough material avail to run last oversize tb45 pistons in your tb42.
Apparantly the tb42 rods are stronger than tb45 but never seen this proven.

I have previously asked whether there is enough metal in the block to bore out to use the tb45 pistons but noone could tell me at the time. You'll also soon be suggested to use a tb45 head as the ports are larger but then you need the exhaust to suit (question your extractor supplier whether they ...

GU TB45 Timing procedure

Ive had a good search and cannot find out how to do the timing on this motor. Seemingly tons of info on dirty diesels but nothing on this motor.
I am guessing you have to remove a fast idle plug like my vlt but being my mates car want to do it properly.

OK so i've gone in on the group buy bought the 4.6:1 ratio's off bbm. And got a bit excited and thought better get a front arb locker while im at it. Just wondering, seeing as bearing kits seem woefully expensive can you also offer pinion bearing kits and carrier bearings to suit so some can do a one stop shop?

Good time to chuck a front locker in and reshim the lsd, i think it is snowballing again....

Yes i agree you won't get exactly 10% more power from the 10% capacity increase, the point was trying to make is if capacity increase is available safely go for it as it is free power. I haven't seen the 4.2 or 4.5 apart so wasn't aware of different oil circuit differences but would imagine it would ...

Yes but if they are the same castings the bore wall thickness would be fine for 4.5L (3.5mm o/s) or you could prob get o/s pistons for the 4.5 and get it out to 4.6 or so and that should be instantly 10% more capacity and therefore 10% more power. I am assuming they are the same casting as the motor ...

I am also keen on boring out 4.2 to 4.5. (96 to 99.5mm from memory). My question that noone could answer was whether the block was thick enough to go out the extra 3.5mm. I believe the conrods are the same length and the combustion volume in the heads are the same in 4.2 and 4.5 therefore the 4.5 ...
