Re: 80 series grinding noise

A bit more info would be good.
Wheres the noise coming from?
Is it only at certain speeds or all the time?
Does it do it at any particular time such as turning or it's always there ?
It is full time 4wd or do you have part time kit installed?

Yes, it means it's a 6" wide rim.
80 series came out with 8" wide rims as well. I think the 60 came out wih either a 6" or 7"

So my dillema is the following what do I do to replace the motor. My options are; 1) Replace the motor with an aftermarket no name ...

At this stage there is nothing happening. Won't know anything until Rick sorts pricing out with his current gear cutter, or if he starts the search for a new one.
I have asked Rick to let me know when he has some more info re this.

jtop, i've got the 240's on mine. They stick out maybe 1/4" out the front, but a lot less than the winch fairlead.
Mind you it's doesn't stick as far out as the upright parts of the bar.
Does that make sense ?

I guess it depends on where and how you measure them. In the first pic it looks like you are only measuring to the start of the side tread and not the big lug which is in line with the rest of the tread, where as with the simex youve take it from the end of the big lug. As someone said before, you ...

The hammer tone was applied with a paint brush. I'm presuming it's compatible with the primer as they are both the "rustguard" brand.
I left it for about 5 hours before scraping it.

Paint for steel bars

Ok, I've just about finished my new rear bar and it primed ready for painting, my only problem is what paint to use for it. I want it in normal boring black. I've tried 3 different paints and they all scratch off with your fingernail (without a lot of pressure) I've tried hammer tone, cheap enamel ...

In all the headunit and amp install manuals i have looked at (i know, who reads those things anyway) it suggests also earthing the amp back to the headunit (doesnt have to be a big wire, similar size to the trigger wire for amp turn on) and is sometimes included in the amp wiring packs i have seen ...

tube for rear bar

Just after a bit of advice. Am just about to order some steel tube to make a rear bar for my patrol. The size I am looking at is a 48mm internal diameter with a 3.2mm wall thickness. Will this be strong enough or is there something else you can suggest. The price I got for the above size is around ...

What would you like to know ?
One of the best built KJ's around. It was pretty much a mall crawler. Didn't see a great deal of dirt.
They did have a few problems with the suspension setup, but I believe this has been ironed out.
For $20k it's a dam good bargain.

hey i was wondering how to connect 2 subs to a single mono amp the subs are 4 ohm and the amps can handle 4 ohms at 300 rms or 2 ohms 600 rms. any help would be great. me217 I'm presuming the amp is 2ohm stable ? There's a big difference between being able to handle 2ohms and 2 ohms stable. Stable ...

Is your front one wired in parallel to the rear ? As in you can't use the front one without the rear one being switched on? If so, do you turn the rear off before the front hence turning both of them off. Just an idea as that's how my last ones were wired up.

Maybe try a hiclone? That might help imbalanced tyres/death wobble about as much. Tell you what, take your steering damper off. THEN get rid of the wobble, then put it back on if you like. Steering dampers don't fix anything, they only make you think it's gone away. Steve. Dude... whats the hiclone ...

swivel hubs all seem fine as well. Check your wheel bearings and swivel-hubs before you do anything else. Bigger diameter and heavier tyres (especially muddies) will exaggerate any play you have in your front end. I'll have a look at that... just one question... how do I do it ? Am I checking for play or worn parts... where do I ...
