my track car never sees 130deg. 120 is generally regarded as the absolute limit amongst racers. You want a high quality full synthetic if you are hitting those temps.

If that Penrite 20-50 Gas is not a fully synthetic, I would be changing it.

I have seen a couple of 4.2 ST-L's recently, both priced more than a brand new ST. AS much as I don't like the ZD30, I'd buy brand new before I paid as much (or more) for a 100,000KM 3 yr old vehicle!

Am currently sorting parts for a custom install turbo set up on 4.2 diesel. I have the intake side of things sorted from 3" snorkel to custom airbox.
Am a little unsure about turbo choice. Does any one have any thoughts or have traveled the same road with a positive outcome.

no, I got it done by KM Diesel up here in Brisbane. They did my injection pump when it crapped out about a year ago so they may have looked after me a little with the price. It was the best quote I got up here and I was happy with their work and service when they did ...

late reply, but I just had my GQ turbo'd. DTS kit supplied, fitted, tuned, drive away $3400
plus the cost of having the dump pipe connected to my existing 2.5" exhaust plus a new flex joint $100. I want to get a 3" exhaust before too long but this will do for now.
I also had the injectors replaced ...

Nissan GQ 4.2L pet/gas. and 4.2L dies.

Petrol 55L tank ($72 to fill) = 350km = 6km/L = 15.7L/100km @ $1.31/L = $20.57/100km

Gas 90L us. tank ($41 to fill) = 330km = 3.6km/L = 27.3L/100km @ $0.45 = $12.29/100km

Diesel 90L tank ($120 to fill) = 650km = 7 ...

I was refering to being mechanically minded, you will need a good tool kit to do anything past servicing and oil changes, that goes with any DIY work :idea:

I have 2 mates with tdi Discos - one manual, one auto. here's a couple of unbiased reasons not to get one:
alternator $2000 genuine! no sh1t
vacuum pump $450ish IIRC
and you can expect other replacement parts to be similarly over-priced.

that's right Nina. the centre hole needs to be larger to fit over the centre of the Patrol's FRONT hub. nothing to do with offset. Sunraysia rims fit both (ie made with the larger hole only), but alloys normally specify Patrol fitment - no idea why they don't just make them all with the larger hole ...
