found the problem -- the pinion shaft itself was worn -- new shaft new bearings and seal all fixed-- $350 later --

thanks for the reply guy's!!! I had a 60 a few years back and same thing once lifted (springs and shakles) it brought the diff forward and the same result back then- the tail shaft was to long, i ended up fitting a fj55 shaft as they are approx 1" shorter so will prob try that 1st and also fit ...

TIGHT TURNS

I agree totaly..... i was unable to make a few of the turns early on in stage 2/3 and was not able to get to the sections to have a decent go, it was very annoying becuase i would been able to drive the harder sections, just unable to get there, its as if they punishing people that dont have air loc...

had an old MQ that had the same prob no matter what I tried, did the death woble thing about 40kph-70kph then one day found that one of the springs was slightly bent near one of the eye's !!!!!!

used to have a 60's with the same problem after 100mm lift (4 inch) the diff is actually closer to the transfer becuase of the ark in rear springs.
the easy fix!!!!!! go to a wrecker and get a tail shaft from a FJ55 perfect length and same spline :D :D

radial claw's are a great allrounder keep them for high speed dirt and touring dirt roads and not to bad on tar either, then get some proper hard core bias ply tyre's :? :D :?

have completly towrn a lug off a simex jungle trekker2 and sliced through 3 off the six ply side wall, was getting wheel spin on a very sharp rock ledge. lucky they were bias ply though any radial would of been

I run 34 JT'S aswell and often go wheeling with mate's that run claw's/mtr's and found the difference is what pressure to run. radial claw's bag the sidwalls nicely at 18psi same goes with mtr's I run 9psi in the simex JT'S and they still dont bag as much as a radial tyre but mould nicely cut a long...
