Re: tb42 &tb42e
I agree, most would have more than 250,000Km. But provided they have been treated right, I think that is not too many Kms. My carby version doesn't have electronic ignition, it goes fine. Just needs the points done every so often. Yeah, that can be a bit of a pain, but they are cheap and easy enough ...

Re: gq alternator upgrade
Yeah pretty much... When my GQ (50A) alternator died, I found that a GU one would fit (100A). The plug is the same, but the wiring had to go around the air-filter box bracket the other way to reach it. It reaches without having to stretch it too much. That was just because the location of the plug ...

it should run at 81 or 82 degrees from memory according to the service manual. You could replace the whole cooling system componentry. You could run on Petrol as it burns cooler. You could spend loads of money doing upgrades and mods and buying new parts. If you don't have heaps of money to burn, I ...

the amount of water you are going to get from driving in the rain will accually be good for your motor as it will steam clean it you think about it you are not going to suck in 3ltrs in one gulp just small amounts and while your motor is hot and running it boils the water and you only have water ...

Check everything under there... Have a look at the pads and disks - do they look ok? If the car is new to you and you don't know the history, there is a chance they are different pads. Check for cracked missing suspension rubbers, Try swapping the tyres again - all combinations, Good luck and let us ...

Another patrol for me?
Hi guys, my dad's mate is selling a SWB 1985 Patrol with a turbo diesel. Just wondering if that is a MQ and what size would that motor be?
Also, how much fuel (L/100km) would it use city driving.
Cheers

LWB GQ - Baby Seat
I had an unsuccessful search, so please excuse me if this has been discussed before. I need to fit a baby seat. I am unsure about how. I have heard that there is possibly an anchorage bar which I need to fit first. My LWB GQ has the two - split middle row seats which fold fwd individually, and the ...

Back door rattle
My GQ developed a clacky sound in the back after my last camping trip. I traced it back to the small back door. If I sit inside and pull on the door handle repeatedly I can replicate the annoying sound as the small door has some play in it. I tried adjusting the locking bar (on the big door) to sit ...

These high flow filters are not doing your engine any real benefit. They can cause the engine to run lean and move your torque curve to where you don't need or want it. This starts the "chasing the tail" syndrome associated with modifying cars. Soon you have replaced the exhaust and changed the cam ...
