No idea. Never heard of these laws. The only laws I've heard about was that any vehicle built after January 2003 must only be put on LPG using a certified kit. Before 2003 you can franenstein up a kit from random bits and pieces. Earlier this year when I put my 1998 TB45 on gas every place I got a q...

There's a product called 'Dakota Digital DSL-1' which will plug into some alternators (4 and 8 cylinders) and give a pulse signal suitable for a tacho (and I guess shift light). But it seems you already have the signal if your VDO is electronic. I doubt you'll be able to get anything 'off the shelf'...

You should head out and watch the comps. I cant say that there is a stage where rev limiter is not hit. :D Cris What I meant is that shifting too early will cause the rev's to drop out of the ideal power range and shifting too late will mean optimum power is not being made before the shift. In some...

No great pics of the back seat, but the ARB Dakar 60 has rear buckets. Can just see the back in the first pic. If you can get your hands on an issue of 4WD Monthly from September 2006 it has some great photos in it. It doesn't appear to have enough room to spare for a fridge in between the seats. Ma...

http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/5772/compm.jpg That bit? That is indeed the air filter. I'm not quite sure how it goes bang - it's just a paper filter. Does it still work? Might be something more terminal if it really went bang. It looks like the generic GMC/SCA/'every other brand' 2.5HP/40L com...

I think the only big downer about the 4.8 is the way they drink the fuel... As far as I know that's the only major downside. I don't know of any 'mass' issues those engines have (there'll be lemons in any model if you're unlucky enough to get one). Aparently a reliable engine and plenty of power. An...

Have you driven both a 2.8TD and a 4.5 petrol? The test drive made the decision for me. No problems with the 4.5 on the beach. Cheaper to run than a diesel (if you plan on servicing it) and even cheaper again on LPG (I pay $13/100km + $200 twice a year for servicing). Plenty of power to turn big tyr...

Is $8k for the car alone, or total budget of $8k? Remember there's stamp duty, insurance, rego and all the things that need fixing right away. If total budget is $8k I'd spend $4k on a Sierra and what's left after the boring costs on tyres, lockers and the fun stuff (of course this isn't a good choi...

I've just bough an early GU wagon. When I was looking around I didn't see a particuarly strong correlation between km and condition. I'd say pretty much any 4WD or suspension shop would have them or be able to get them. I'm not from around the Central Coast so not sure of any local places. From what I've seen both in shops and online, $110 seems to be the 'normal' price. I paid $110 for a Tough Dog one. 4WD1 (www.4wd1.com) has a ...

Coil Spring Mounts - Where to buy?
Anyone have any idea where I can buy coil spring perch's from (I guess thats the name - the plates that hold the coils in place).
I'm pricing up the bits for a 3-link or 4-link and can find every bracket except the spring mounts. Or will I have to make my own?
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks!

Not quite sure what you mean by killing them. Do you mean flattening the batteries or destroying them from overcharging? Which particular dual battery system is it? This means the formula will work without even using an acutal ramp, ...

HiLux Tacho Sender (5L)
The tacho in my HiLux (1991, LN106R) used to jump around erratically, then eventually stopped working all together. I then replaced the 3L (2.8L) engine with a 5L (3.0L) and still no action from the tacho. I'm wondering if someone can confirm that what I think is the tacho signal sender on the 5L, a...
