Hi Bob- radius arm bushes generally flog out around the centre steel sleeve- they will look "cracked" or torn there, like that sleeve (that the bolt goes through) is gunna tear away completely. Check these with a torch or lead light- PS: new from Nissan at trade price just under $200 for all four ...

PS: Not saying that these things are definately going to solve your problem, I know how frustrating it is when people come up with so many answers when all you want is THE solution! But it is a process of elimination. You really gotta check ya castor etc and as fatassgq mentioned, drop boxes are the ...

Agree with gasdrx re 2-3" suspension + 2" body- but go for the longer bolts he mentions- best to stick as close to Nissan's original design (ie: with captive bolts). 2" lift should not affect standard gearbox lever!

I am not flaming other manufacturers- just pointing out what I require. Had an early gq with arb steel bar- lower section (not hoops) was VERY strong- thicker steel but also boxed/rolled on bottom unlike modern version- corners could take weight without bending up significantly- now have nissan ...

Probably weaker due to modern thinking/ design with crush rates in mind and to suit air-bagged trucks- especially in offset impacts (ie: in the corner).

custom arm?... unbolt pin from arm, cut pin off, weld on eye, bolt back into arm- box could be designed with bolt to go through newly bushed eye on back off radius arm- Superior could even supply the new eye in a kit (with the drop boxes) already welded up so it could be bolted into your own radius ...

Silver/pewter is the new white- looks absolutely trick with black acessories! But as said- totally a personal choice. White as said definately best for scratches- but hard to colour match with repairs- almost harder than most metallics!

Have you seen how far out an ARB winch bar sticks out on a GU? Agreed ARB has roo strike protection but like I said though- not strong enough in corners- just twist up into guard and make a mess! Not to mention- OMG crazy heavy!

Tayls- body lift on a GQ is too easy. -When doing rearmost blocks note that they are captive bolts- so get out the oxy and heat up the end of bolt and nut from inside rear of cabin before trying to crack the bolt! -Check you haven't nicked the fuel filler hose off the tank when you're done -Might ...

OP, I did the same as Andrew- passenger side chassis rail has holes with welded nuts inside- mirror of drivers' side rail so Nissan hook fits. But I picked up OBIdeas plate too ($50 at TJM for those wanting price) as I had to get winched sideways out of a hole recently- used a tie down point which ...

PS- Do people reckon that with a tube bar, you risk twisting chassis more than a standard Nissan, TJM, ARB bullbar in a medium to serious impact. :?: :?: :?:

GU Tube bar in 4wd Monthly Magazine

Hi Guys,
Issue 90, March 2006 (latest issue) 4wd Monthly magazine- Page 64, there is a pic of a GU plowing through a boghole (no. plate nsw ARB148) with a very neat looking TUBE BULLBAR- does anyone know who makes this one- I like!
