With a hair dryer under the bonnet they go alright. I had a mate who owned an 89 hilux. To overtake he'd have to be going down a hill with the wind behind him. Never broke down and always got him home though.

If you plan on driving it on the road, watch out for the transport boys!

hey muddylux, get some 2 inch lifted parabolics up front, they give heaps of flex and provide a better ride.

The d**k who did the lift before i bought the truck did an incredibly dodgy job . I don't know what he used for blocks and the washers he used in the cab were about 2mm jobs. The front right bolt under the cab had pulled through the floor, hence the reason for new blocks!

I used 4mm thick washers on the body so they shouldn't pull through ...

I'm going to replace the 10mm bolts with 12mm HD bolts to increase strength.

Has anyone used 12mm bolts in there lift?

Does anyone know where I can get some new body mount insulators for my 95 dual cab hilux. The ones between the lift block and mounting bracket have deteriorated.

Any comments or ideas welcome

Any idea which ones are ok to remove?

Is that undoing the u bolts only?

Is it as easy as that? Isn't there a king pin of sorts that runs up the centre of the leaf pack to hold them all together.

The rear of my 95 hilux has 7 pack leaf set on it and is bumpy as a teenagers face! I want to remove 1 or 2 leafs.

Does anyone have or know of any links detailing the removal of leaf springs from the rear of a hilux? I know I could take it down to the local suspension place but he wanted $200 to do ...

yes, HP is at the flywheel and BHP is at the wheels. You lose alot of power through your drivetrain (flywheel, gearbox, driveshafts etc)
BHP is a realistic measure of performance as its what you get to the road that counts

Adjusted the steering box last night and she runs straight and true now.

There i still a little play from the drop drag link onto the steering arm and I checked the tie rod ball joints for play. By grabbing the tie rod and twisting it back and forward there is a lottle movement but I think this is ...

I just don't understand how it corrected itself overnight!

On the way to work this morning I noticed that the steering wheel had centred itself back to where it should be. I have no idea how or why!

I think it may have done the damage at a steep creek crossing. At the bottom of the creek someone had got stuck and trying to dig their way out, created a deep rut. I only noticed the rut under water when the right hand side dipped down quite quickly.

Has anyone found that after a bash in the bush, their steering isn't centred when they get back onto the hard stuff?

I took my 95 hilux for a spin this arvo and found that when i was back on the black stuff my steering wheel was rotated about 45 degrees to the left.

I have had my hilux for about 3 months and it has just started to blow a bit of smoke when off boost, mainly in 1st and 2nd gear. I have attached a pic of what i believe is the boost compensator but as this is my first 4x4, i'm not quite sure. If it is a boost compensator, does my truck need a tune ...

Yeh, totally agree, how you see it is how i bought it. Money willing i want to scrap the 180 degree sharp bends with a tidy stainless steel rolled bend set up.

I know free stuff and payed for stuff takes as long as each other. I was trying to emphasise that free stuff seems to take longer cause you're all the more keen to get it on your truck.
