AFAIK...there is also a supplementry CD stacker that goes under the seat that hooks up to original GQ TI radio as well.

make sure both driveshafts have the yokes lined up..ie...both fixed yokes have to be lined up or parallel with each other. they can misaligned if the slip joint has been pulled apart...and also check the balance of shaft. Another issue is the angle of the shafts with a 3 inch lift could be too acute ...

I have had the LHS bearings come loose after servicing on 2 occasions now...and it pulled slightly left. Just nipped them up a poofteenth and they were right then...and still are.
My theory is the left ones will come loose because of rotation direction just slightly ....and hub tips that small ...

Handbrake??
Maybe stuck on slightly...or a spring inside has come adrift allowing it to rub on shaft/drum. Or maybe has a lopsided mounted shoe in there with steel backing contacting moving parts.

Are you talking about a Donaldson pre-cleaner, If so I use a 10" one on my 4.2 GU but a 3lt would only need a 7" one.

I would think that the support frames in the GQs are all the same. Cant for the life of me think why they should be any different really.

All the GQ diesels AND the RB 30 radiators are the same. The radiators for the TB42 are the odd ones ....the hoses and filler are on opposite sides to all the others.
A good tip for those that have the RD 28...fit a 3 row radiator and add 2 extra strenghthening staps to those already there..ie...the ...

I made mine.
Pretty sure any good workshop manual has the drawings etc on how to make one. I know the geuine GQ manual has ...in the supplement for the 97 models at least.

Pretty easy fix....just get a complete ZD 30 airbox out of a GU and fit it up.you will need to grind off the square flange where the airflow meter was fitted ....and a 90 degree rubber bend in 3 inch ...plus a short joiner pipe to join up to turbo intake hose. The inlet of airbox butts up against ...

Well...one thing is for sure...your doing the right thing by not going near bloody Berrima again.
The damage that they did to my troll....and no comeback from them at all..was criminal.
How they can sleep at night with the dodgy workmanship is beyond me.

These motors had an auto choke....and after a while (a few years and 150.000k or so) the bi-metal spring would start to work sometimes and not others. Never did find out exactly why...dry joint inside it maybe....but when I repaced it ....never played up again.
Truck did exactly as described above ...

Can use good quality stainless clamps too (better)....but not those cheapy ones with stamped see-thru threads that actually cut into rubber/silicone and stuff it!!
I position my template with auto tape...centre punched all the holes...checked and rechecked it ...

Sure that all air is out of the cooling system ? The RD28T needs a special procedure for bleeding and holds air pockets if not bleeded correctly.

I have long suspected this as I have had trouble bleeding mine.

They aint router bits...
They came out of the injector pump head after you removed the injector pipes from the rear of injector pump when you took it off motor.
Dont worry about them tho....these little widgets are automatically replaced when the pump is overhauled.

They are a brilliant lttle donk for there size ...but to tow what you are thinking is just stretching the friendship more than a little. A lighter powertrain...smaller engine will be a bit short to tow heavy stuff.
Having said that ...I tow a off road camper trailer with mine to some faraway places ...

st391gq - when you say it bolted into the exsiting bolt holes no worries, does it bolt tight and snug into the front corner of the engine bay? cause thats were it will need to be to fit 2 batteries with a 4.2 (nfi about 2.8)

I just finished fitting a ZD30 air cleaner to my RD28 GQ....and damn it makes a difference !!
The square section on the engine side I very carefully ground off and used a 90 deg. angle and joined it straight to original intake pipe...with a few alterations of position , angle etc...mostly by just ...

There is a notch on the pulleys themselves...which is lined up with a stud on the lhs of pulley when looking at it from the front...about the 2 o,clock position.
This needs to be lined up with no1 piston on BDC (bottom dead centre)
Tis prolly too late now ....but the marks on all the sprockets ...

In a word...NOPE !!
Spline count between F and R is different.

I can tell you we tried it and it broke, the LSD is very small and the plates broke into lots of little bits, this was with 36" simexes and a TB42 carby Patrol.

I too am interested in this as well....just ...

Body mount. Mine does the same over any bumps etc., but only on the passenger side. When it starts happening on the drivers side i'll fix it. :P

If the passenger side is makin a noise and the driver side isnt...then it is probably too late for driver side mount hey....unless your truck ...

they are available after market....gates do a full kit for the 2.8.
There are 2 different kits tho .....
From memory late 96 and on are different kit number....sumthin about belt material is different.
I bort my kit (97 GQ) about 2 months ago....was well over 200 bux ...about 280 i think...n that ...

I did mine a few months ago.
I got the kit that modified the original Air cleaner housing.
TIP.... make sure that all the templates are in exactly the right place...double check and double check.
Take your time and it works well ....and is not hard at all really

I put a 70 amp VL one on my RB30.....auto leccy just had to machine my pulley a little to get it to fit properly.
Came with the adapter to hook straight in.
I got it stretched to 120 amps so that all my batteries (Dual...camper ..etc) would charge ...
