Blown Turbo..?

Hi All,

Currently running a 96 model 80 series, 1HZ with aftermarket toyota turbo which was already fitted when I bought it. Not sure of the model but believe it is the same as on the 1HDT. After my last fishing trip towing a 1.5t boat for 400km it seems my turbo has given up the ghost? A lot of ...

Has anyone thought about putting a new 1VD-FTV (the twin turbo diesel from the 200 series) in an 80 series? Would this be possible? I also have an 80 series with a 1HZ and aftermarket turbo, with 4 inch lift and running 35's. I generally use it for towing about 1 tonne of boat long distances and a ...

Yeah sure it is. Red wire to starting battery, white wire to aux battery, black wire earthed.
Says clearly on the box that's the way it's supposed to be? When I opened it up the
solder seems fine, nothing is loose. Suppose the sensors are on the way out. Will change
the earth wire tonight and see ...

to see how long it would last) I start the cruiser and the control box goes ...

Hmmm... Never thought of it that way? Its either A or B but B sounds like it could be the case. I will have to do a
little more investigating. If I use a multimeter on the main battery I should be able to tell what charge it is
at right? So lets say it is above the 13v when I have shut down the ...

Dual Battery Problem

Having a slight problem with my dual battery setup. For some reason the control box that senses when
the engine is running or stopped is intermittantly not seeing the engine turn off. A small LED on the
box indicates when the battery is being charged and only turns on when the engine is started ...

Hi Exhaustfix,

I've got a Turboed 1HZ 80 Series. Looks like the guy before me has used 3" steel pipe from the headers to under
the drivers seat where it has been joined using a flexible piece to the original exhaust pipe. The original pipe is
considerably narrower (2" maybe?) but is straight ...

Which Fridge?

Just looking at getting a fridge for the 4B and was wondering which were the best buys?
Would be used on regular weekend and longer trips and would be in the back of an 80 series.
Which are better as far as battery life goes and what experiences have you had with yours?
Looking at around 80 ...

Turbo Whistle

Drove the cruiser (96' 80 Series GXL 1HZ Turbo) yesterday for about 100k's towing a boat and had no dramas. But after stopping for a couple of hours before driving home unloaded, noticed the turbo whistle was considerably louder in the cab when accelerating? I would say that it was at least twice as ...

I've managed to get my hands on a couple of batteries (free) and was wondering if they would be
any good for the 4by accessories also? I've included a PDF doc of the specs. Maybe someone here
can make some sense of it all? The batteries were used as backup power for a PABX.

That tank did about 200km of highway driving @ say 115km/h
50km of 1st and 2nd gear driving through rough hill tracks.
120km towing a 1 tonne boat @ 100km/h and the rest normal driving.

No I haven't had the injectors checked, nor have i had it tuned since
I bought it. Has heaps of power so maybe ...

I've got a turboed 1hz in mine and i'd be lucky to get 16L/100km on highway driving.
Just got 450km out of 70L ($100) doing a bit of everything.

Yes the cruiser has been lifted, but its only a 2 inch suspension and 2 inch body lift. Do you think this would

In the past couple of months I've had the cruiser (96 1HZ with bolt on toyota turbo) heat up on me. Both times I was

didn't seem to be much and it has plenty more power in reserve. The ...
