Mine were metal. Give them a call though, they had all sorts of weird & wonderful things getting done when I was there.

Re: Re coating spot light reflectors?

I had a pair of old headlight reflectors resilvered by Industrial & Decorative Plating at Lane Cove.
They were done around 20 years ago & they're still fine.

If the distributor took a dunk in the water then it could still have some in it. It's not a problem when cold but when it warms up, it condenses on the underside of the cap.

If you can, get the engine warmed up then leave the cap off the distributor for a couple of hours. That should clear the ...

Apparently so, unless you just drive around at 60kph.

They're not expensive if you get them from the right source. Avoid the plastic ones though.

They may be all 5x120 but thats about it. The RRS centralising spigot is a different diuameter to that on the D2 and P38, with the D2 one being bigger.... so although the PCD is the same, the wheel probably still wont fit on. Wrong way around Simon ;) .

There's 3 points mounted in the roof near the tailgate. They have covers over them so you might not immediately recognise them as the mounts.

The top layer of the dash usually curls up where the front edge of the dash meets the windscreen.
It's just cosmetic really but may be a bargaining point if you're buying one.

It's not really a common problem & seeing as the chain itself is over $1000 from LR, you'd be better off getting a second hand transfer case.

Get in touch with 'son of bundalene' on eBay - he wrecks P38s & seems to get good rates on transport.
He should be on here too as 'andrew e'.

If you decide to go for a D1 update dash (1994-1998), you might find that it has curled up along the front edge. New, modified dashboards are available from your local LR dealer for $100 (list). The only ones left though are non-SRS dashes which is probably what you want anyway.

Any trace of oil can affect the running of the engine.

The oil transfers along the injector harness into the engine harness & then eventually to the ECU.

The engine harness can usually be cleaned successfully but you'd be better off replacing the injector harness.
The oil cannot enter the ECU at ...

Check for oil in the injector harness & at the engine ECU behind the battery first. It's quite common for this to display those symptoms.

Can you find a photo of the colour you're after?

How about this one:

It's Avalon Blue from about 1996, paint code 184.

If so, the problem is in the ABS modulator.

Metric - weird french idea with metric rim diameters - fitted to peugeot/renault then died out...

Defender engine numbers start with 16L.
Discovery manual is 18L, auto is 20L.

You can tell by the gearbox prefix what it was fitted to originally but I don't have that info to hand.

86's & 87's have injectors with a hose "tail" on the upper side rather than the common O ring connection.
