Prado 95 series LSD diff question
I have recently purchased a 01 prado TX, stock 1kz etc. One thing I noticed while giving the car a service was no LSD in the rear. I checked the manual etc and a few online things, apparently the TX model uses the brakes to regulate the wheel slip, like ABS in reverse, it brakes the wheel that is ...

Re: hilux front diff with surf hubs?
It may seem a stupid question, possibly an engineer can answer best, but why is it done this way for the ifs hub conversion versus spacing the brake caliper out 34mm with the corresponding longer bolts, so surf / LN106 ventilated disks and calipers can be used, a far superior brake setup?

i'd susp fuel line or filter a bit blocked, possibly from crap disturbed when out bashing about. good to get some compessed air, blow out lines, swap new filter, then use return line to pressurise tank to make easy to prime. good tip is to fill new filter with clean diesel as well as all the fuel ...

Re: Prado 150 series auto
any large auto transmission cooler will do, I have just used the ford ones as they are large , cheap and effective. maybe when towing it is best to lock the transmission into a lower gear at the beginning of the approach and have the o/d off, I think it mentions this sort of stuff in the manual, but ...

Re: Funny cat like sound in 4Runner
I susp brake vacuum booster, You probably don't hear it in park as you don't have your foot on the brakes.
You can try disconnecting and plugging the vaccuum line from the Alt/vac pump and work your way back until the booster, it could be the anti bleedback valve if fitted

Re: What is my modded, busted ass Lux worth.
since you have spent the coin with all the mods a rebuilt diesel is worth doing. if you have the basic mechanical skills it is quiet easy to do the engine, just remove engine, engine crane $250, sell it afterwards if you don't need it, cheaper than hiring twice. strip engine down, take cleaned ...

Re: Prado 150 series auto
An additional transmission cooler is a very worthwhile investment in any case, 1. for cooling, 2. for more fluid. The key thing to remember is the fluid is the lubricant and when it reaches certain high temperatures it will break down as with any oil and cease to protect the internal surfaces, then ...

Re: kz te overheating in Brazil
if it is an auto the factory transmission cooler sits in the bottom of the radiator effectively blocking 50% of the flow. a standard alloy manual radiator and a large aftermarket oil cooler should fix your woes. If it is a manual, while it is apart to do the head, change the water pump or at least ...

The CT 20 is the one used across the range, the early ct20 used on the 2LT (2.4 early cast alloy rocker cover) has a bolt on flange for the crossover pipe. to fit the turbo manifold you will have to drill and tap two opposing bolts in the head as well as swap the oil cooler housing and put a drain ...

It's not an impossible jub the way you are doing it with the complete late model vehicle. The engine mounts are in a different location, so no dramas cut the old mounts off and replace with the donor cars mounts, just get the exact measurements off the donor car before cutting. If donor vhicle is an ...

it is straight forward conversion, given that yours is a non efi pump. you are right in thinking why reco a 2.4, when a 2.8 bottom end will fit, it has a bit more torque due to the increased stroke, 3L and 5L use the same crank, so if yoy can get a 3L cheap enough go for it. As for pumps, they are ...
