Shock replacement options

The front shocks are stuffed in my Hilux and when I had them out I lifted the front up out of curiosity and found it had a lot more to give. It has a 80 series front diff with a 5 link. Should I just replace the shocks or should I spend a bit more and go coilovers etc? How much work and expense ...

Re: R150 Gearbox 5th Gear

I might have to check my tacho once I get it running again as it seems high considering i'm running 36" tyres. I am running an aftermarket tacho that I may have not set to the 4 cylinder option on the dip switches. Apparently you can fit 5th gear from a R452 gearbox that gives 30% overdrive. I have ...

R150 Gearbox 5th Gear

I'm running the R150 box behind a 1UZ in my Hilux with 4.88 diff gears. I'm looking at dropping the the revs for 'highway driving' as it sits on around 3200rpm at 100km/h. What are the options with this box ie; can you buy a different ratio 5th gear or source one from a diferent box? Thanks for the ...

Re: 1UZ air intake on Hilux

Hopefully have it running in the next month.

I do realise I could do the breather hoses and that differently but I am happy at the moment with them plumbed up how they are and it was the easiest and quickest way for me at the moment.

Have you even looked at yours Guts?

Re: 1UZ air intake on Hilux

Well it worked. Now all I have to do is source a longer throttle cable (and if anyone can point me in the right direction for one it would help) There were 4 studs you had to swap around to hold the plenum on as one side were shorter than the other but that was the only hurdle at the end and a ...

Re: 1UZ air intake on Hilux

Thanks for the motivation to not give up. Last night I removed the plastic casing around the loom at the back of the engine, soldered a couple of wires for the plugs to reach the other side and then removed the fuel rail and spun it 180. Everything lined up perfectly and the intake now fits as I ...

Re: 1UZ air intake on Hilux

Well the wiring turned out to be the easy bit so far. I've hit a hurdle that is seriously making me think of putting everything back original and running a pipe across the engine to the passenger side. The fuel line on the fuel rail is in the way of the throttle body, even if I remove the bit off ...

Re: 1UZ air intake on Hilux

Thanks for the invaluable help BJ. I've only had a chance to start un-twisting the loom. I am finding it hard to pop the pins out on the plugs. Tomorrow arvo I should be able to hit it for a few more hours. Its not really that hard a job but I wish auto-elec's didn't like using so much tape. Cheers ...

Re: 1UZ air intake on Hilux

I was considering spinning the manifold around 180. How hard is it to do? Looking at it the hardest thing would be the 2 elec. plugs on the throttle body. Are there any other things to look out for as this would suit my engine bay the best.

1UZ air intake on Hilux

I am looking at trying to utilise my passenger side snorkel on my '92 model Hilux I have put a 1UZ in.

The intake on the engine is 75mm and I have a v6 air box that has a 65mm intake. Would this affect the engines performance?

Any photo's of what people have done would also be helpful.

Try egauges.com. They are in the states but I have used them before and even with postage ended up way cheaper. Depends on the exchange rate to though.

1UZ Cooling in a Hilux

Now that there are a lot of 1UZ conversions out there what are the best radiator fan combinations people are running to keep the engine cool in all conditions. I'm primarily interested in a front mount radiator (not on the tray) with the cooling fan/fans on the engine side pulling the air through ...

Hilux Custom Fuel Tank or Fuel Tank Relocation

I'm running an 80 series rear diff in my '92 Dual Cab Hilux with an A frame and coils. The current custom fuel tank sits on an angle to one side to suit the A frame but the end with the pickup sits low and is vunerable. I am looking at building a custom tray in the near future and just want peoples ...

I was looking at doing the same setup to mine and emailed the engineer i'm dealing with to see if he would pass it and this is the response I received "I prefer traditional rubber mount's under the transmission. Typically the stiffness of the transmission mount is about 300 - 600 N/mm while the ...

I replaced 6 of my body mounts, both top and bottom rubbers (12 bits to buy all up), on a 92 dual cab not long ago. I think it was about $220 all up from Toyota.
