Re: Fuel Tank Leaking

Where the filler line joins the tank, as does the breather, I would expect to see a J tube inside the tank to the top of the inside of the tank. This is not based on anything other than the fact that if it is not there then the breather tube would come from the top of the tank.

Re: needed general info and advice about line locks

Been cleaned twice brand new pads and rotors and adjusted by toyota and independent mechanic and by myself a total of 6 times using 3 different posted methods 2 of which have come from outers.

Yes putting it in gear will hold it but don't want that sort of pressure on the box.

Re: DIY pressurised brake bleeder

how did the plastic go after having brake fluid in it ? has it cone all soft or brittle ?

The pressure bottle shows no sign of damage - it's pretty thick walled and made to hold pesticides.
There is milky discolouration on the pvc hose after the fluid was in it but thats only $5 - 6 so it can be ...

Re: Fuel Tank Leaking

The only way that fuel can come back up the filler is if the point that the filler tube is below the actual fuel level and that the filler is completely sbmerged in the tank. Any air that is in the tank will blow out and not carry much fuel.
Emty the tank, do a calculation to find the tanks volume ...

4mm tap into a 10mm plate. You don't need to have 100% depth. Recess the hole and tap say 5mm or open up the hole a bit bigger.

5 speed into an FJ45 questions

Looking at getting a 5 speed from a HJ60 1983 model for my FJ45.

Some questions, are the gearbox ratios from the HJ60 and FJ60 the same?
What is the spline count and outside diameter on the gearbox input shaft?
Will the HJ60 box fit straight into an FJ45? Sure the mounts will change but I am only ...

Tank was made by a mate that builds tanks for boats and built to survey specs, no biggy to fit a breather just after feed back on what kind of breather works best.

With the motor running....press the brake pedal a few times, does the pedal firm up?
Nex question, how do the rear shoes look? are they wearing evenly across the face? There may be some grooving but that is irrelevant, just put a steel rule acress the shoe face to see if it is flat.

Do the seals actually touch the lid? There may be a gap so a new seal may be the go. I redid mine with a seal that I got from the wrecker....just a boot seal from car did the trick and put the join at the bottom.

welding panels

get your hands on a block of copper and if possible put it behind the part to be welded. This will stop you from blowing holes in the steel. Turn your amps down as low as possible and run solid wire with gas. Make sure the steel is clean with no rust. Weld a bit then move to the other side of the ...
