Does anyone know if it can be done ?
Reason: Reversing Camper up winding steep concrete driveway in Low Range 4x4 I experience 'wind up' and drive line is not happy.
Was great with the Sierra and manual hubs, no problem with Low Range and hubs not locked, so would like to do similar with Vitara.

you guys are real helpful so heres my next question
I ve got extended shackes 2" Im after a standard type shocks (front and rear) dont want to spend a million bucks, Ive been told to find shocks from diffrent cars that have the extended travel and compression to suit the new amount of travel etc ...

Curious if anyone has purchased one of those performance chips available off eBay.....
And if it was really worth the effort.
I am using my 2 litre 97 Vitara as a tug for a small camper and just a little more grunt up a hill would be great.
More grunt means more fuel use, but on the flat it should ...

My searching on their site indicates you could tow 1 tonne, with 80kg ball weight, so long as the trailer has brakes.
Different states may have regulations which undercut the towbar rating of both vehicle and towbar ...

Got told by the Govt Inspection garage here in SA that any modification to the front of a vehicle has to be ..wait for it.....Pedestrian Friendly

and usually requires an engineers report..

My 2 door Vitara has a dead fuel gauge.
Used to work, flickered sometimes and now has died.

A reputable mechanic suggested I give my Sierra a dose of Slick 50 to help against the piston slap type noises during cold start/running on my '96 SJ80 Coily..

Im in the middle of a rebuild on my 4age corolla motor. Assuming you have the required tools (Torque wrench, good sockets, ring compressor etc.) and all the sundries (solvent, gasket sealer etc.) it shouldnt cost you more than a couple hundred dollars for a rebuild kit and a few nights of skinned ...

Anyone give me the average rebuild cost for a '96 SJ80 1.3 engine.
Seems I have one with crook pistons..sounds like a diesel driving off after a cold start.
I guess once the engine is out I may as well do a proper job and renew everything. Damn, there goes my veterans pension for several months ...

Hey !! has anyone got or know of a second hand long range fuel tank for a 96 Sierra gathering dust somewhere..I don't like the idea of carrying containers of fuel with my "jack hammer" suspension on corrugated roads.
