electronic ignition - 18R

I just bought an 82 Hilux ute and it has an 18R engine in it. Anyone changed theirs over to electronic ignition? What did you use?

I changed my Rangie to electronic ignition and it made a world of difference so I would rather do that than keep changing points/

I have been wary of this since day dot.....

Just look at the TTC carpark a lot of cars had 50mm plus lifts mine included and no doubt 90% without engineers approval.

This raises an interesting point. When if come time to try and appeal something like this you can only go on statistics ...

Yep, I've been under the pump all day today. Just stepped back into the office after being out in the boonies. I did a 18.5 hour day on Tuesday so I am not going to work this weekend and try to get some progess on the Rangie. How's the stress level at your place today?

When I bought my Rangie I could not get any of the wheel nuts off. We tried a breaker bar with a 1.5m peice of bar on the end with a fat mate bouncing on it. We had soaked them with wd40 and no go. We left them overnight with a good soaking of more WD40 and still couldn't get them off even with the ...

Falcon Fans - anyone gone the whole radiator?

I know a few people have put in the EL falcon fans and shrouds on the STD rangie radiator. Has anyone put in the falcon radiator or know if it will fit. My radiator is marginal and brand new falcon radiators are cheap as chips. I am putting in a different engine so the inlets and outlets are not ...

At first I thought the 50.2 at the wheels was pretty low but after talking to a few other Rangie owners it seems that is about the right figure for a 3.5 V8. I was told a lot of Cruisers are only in the 40's for newish ones.

Good to see some of the bigger engines are putting out bigger numbers.

Re: torque

I had a P76 fitted earlier in the year. It had been rebuilt using holden pistons about sixty thou oversize, which we worked out made the engine approx 4.6L, stage 1 cam and 350 holley, 2.25 single exhaust with the later style manifolds - not extractors.

A LT95 4 speed manual and some dead stock axles/diffs & some 31's

Yes I hear you laughing. I expect the old 10 spliners to give up pretty quickly. I plan on changing to tojo diffs like HSV Rangie did or some GQ axles but I am going the 1/2 cage and seats first.

When a vehicle is first released to the market it must comply with the ADR's. There is a max height requirement within the ADR's but that is not low enough to effect lifts. How do the radial and bias ply swamper compare to each other for on road driving? Looking at buying a set but not sure which one.
