GQ 4.2 diesel waterpump
Hello All,
just noticed there is a hole at the bottom of my water pump that is leaking coolant from. the pump doesnt appear to have any wear and is nice and firm, is this an indicator that the pump is on the way out?
thanks alan

you could try Paul at Patrolapart in Lilydale. Not sure if he still does them but even if he doesnt he could give you costs and who to go through.
He originally did mine and i am happy with the work and finish of the conversion

hope this helps

2002 defender front diff
Hi ,
I have afriend who needs to source a new front diff for a 2002 defender in Melbourne.
Can anyone recommend where to get one from?
Transdiff in bayswater told hil that all the working parts including centre are damaged and requires a new one.
Any thoughts would be appreciated

GQ 304 SWB
I already have one of these and there has been some talk about this conversion over the last couple of months. There is a reasonable GQ SWB one on ebay that would be much cheaper to buy already done than do it to your own rig. It's even on gas. 2inch body and 2inch suspension, rear diff lock what mo...

Good advice, the only thing is the manifold, unfortunatly the 65mm throttle body and manifold are hugely restrctive, you will be hard pressed to make power over 4500 rpm with a 355 and the standard EFI manifold. Just recently I rebuilt and tuned a 304 Walkinshaw(twin throttle group A manifold), mil...

JUst because you stroke it wont mean that u will get overheating problems. I guess its proportional to power output. If it were a 400hp mill yeah maybe. You will pick up some horsepower with the stroker but its the tourque that will increase alot. After i stroked the 308 in my tonner i only picked ...

304 rebuild
The injected heads flow alot better than the old red heads, Im pretty sure they will flow 460hp as they are. As you are building it for tourqe the standard valves and ports are perfect. Small ports and valves equals air speed, which also helps atomize the fuel better. Stroker cranks are getting che...

I am in a similar position. I am looking at doing transfer gear reduction and then a front air locker that can be turned on and off. Running the 35s and having transfer reduction might be a plus with the larger tyres. As far as turbo upgrade goes if you are happy with what you currently have stick w...

I run the standard diesel radiator with the holden fan and it never gets hot. I dont run gas and it is just a standard v8 with a chip and extractors.
If you are putting a t700 behind it I would suggest a big trans cooler with thermo.

Yeah, i hear ya on the intercooler plumbing. I'd have to say that a large majority of the work/time on my 180B was spent on intake plumbing. PITA!! Great to see you're happy with the conversion, gives me a bit more inspiration to do it myself rather than fork out 5 big ones for someone to do it for...

Friend has it and has noticed an improvement in performance. he also said that he had problems with the membrane in the mixer douling and thought it would be quite some time before he would recoup the additional 1500 to 200 grand outlay. Hi, juts wondering if anyone have put in a top mount intercooler into a gq. I have a gq with a gu airscoop already installed and I am looking at the option of placing a GU style intercooler below it. hi,
does anyone run an older AIT turbo system or has driven one and compared to a later style turbo kit such as dts,axt etc?
just after any information or experience people have had, also if the manfold is the same as any other cast turbo manifold ?
thanks Alan
