Engine Replacement Time

Looking at doing a conversion for my tired old 3F

What's the general concensus on the following, eg. what fits, what will i need for the conversion, what other parts on the car will need to change ie brakes etc....

Chevy 350 - Chevy 454 (would love to think it could fit)

LS1 - LS2

Fuel Economy

I have an '87 FJ62 3F - Over 300,000kms - never rebuilt so probably pretty tired
I get around 300kms from 65l Gas
Around 400kms from 75l Fuel
my car sucks through the petrol
pretty much stock - 32's, no spare wheel, no barwork, just storage drawers in the back

Quarter window

Same thing happened to me about a year ago....

Obrien's wanted like $180 for a 60's front quarter window

Made my own out of Clear Lexen..... now I'll just laugh at the next person who attempts to break that one...

Lexen cost me about $35.00

Yeah I have stuggled to have it tuned also. Issue is that it used to start on gas fine - struggle to start on petrol, now it is exactly the opposite and now I can;t convert to gas at all. As far as I am aware it is runing points no electronic ignition..... But that should not affect the conversion ...

How hard is it to remove and refit the front diff in a 60 series?

Do I just need to replace the open centre? What changes need to be made whe going from stock to an lsd?

Previous owner has done filler plug up so tight.... nearly broke myself trying to get it open??

Any other ideas most welcome

the problem now is that the tailshaft is too long due to the change in angle of the diff, so instead of chewing uni joints every 500kms, I wanna fix it properly.

I am looking at these for purely off-road use, so I want a tyre that performs well in nearly any situation, they will be removed from the car when not in use off road, so road wear is not an issue really, off road performance is the key.

Which Tyre to Choose

Just want some input as to the perfomance of each type of the Simex tyres

1. Jungle Trekker

2. Extreme Trekker

Both look like nice and aggressive tyres, around the same price, so really just lookinf for feed back before I make my final choice
