Went to the auto spark today, he said it is most probably a diode stuffed in it. Will get it bench tested and if it isn't worth fixing its time for a newy, probably get a newy anyway as I want to up the amps.

I have had trouble with the battery going flat but it only happens if the ute is left sitting for a few days with it connected. Multimeter shows 12.5v with engine off and 13-14 with running.

power steering

I am doing a hi steer on my lux and was wondering how hard it is to steer with the power steering not hooked up, compared to conventional steering, as I might need to get to a hose place to get hoses made up.

battery spark

Hey all, Just wondering if someone could shed some light. When I connect my battery I get a spark (not huge) but when the charge wire is unplugged off the alternator it doesn't spark. Am not sure what this means. It is an 85 Hilux with a 253 in it. Thanks Guys

I have a 253 in mine , different motor but have had same problem, 3200 rpm at 110k's. I just fitted 4.3's and the difference is phenominal. Rpm has now dropped to 2800 @ 110k's and much better fuel economy. I am about to fit 33's as well which will drop it even more. If you are worried about the ...

Thats what I thought, some guy tried to tell me the other day that if you put a front diff in the back you would have 5 reverse gears. I walked away with a bemused look on my face. What about the front 80 series petrol diff, can they be used in the back ?
