4Runner 3L V6

Hi,

just wondering what people can tell me about the 3L V6 engine in mid-90s 4Runners? How reliable, fuel economy?

I have a 95 Camry with the 3L V6 which is a great motor but I believe it's not the same motor as the 4runner.

It's not second rate rubbish. But I agree, it's bloody stupid of them to be basically sneaking it in there. They're just asking for another scandal like ethanol. If they put it out in the open and used it as a selling point they'd make more money, avoid a media beatup, and people like me wouldn't ...

Much as a like the rockys they seemed a bit rare and so overpriced for someone in a hurry. I ended up with a Pajero 2.3 turbo diesel instead. A lot cheaper and less k's but a bit older than the Rockys I found. (1986 model, $3800, 170000 km, only 130000 on the motor, 1 lady owner, regular services ...

Haynes Pajero manuals cheap @ Repco

Just thought I'd post in case anyone else is looking for one. I got one at Repco (North Parramatta) for about $25. This is less than half the price advertised on the Haynes website.

Reversing cameras

Has anyone here tried one of those reversing camera/monitor setups that clip over your existing rear view mirror? (A few people sell them on ebay, e.g. this ) How do you find it?

Or, any other reversing mirror setups?

There are some cheap LCDs and cameras going separately on ebay but the ...

Various mechanical issues

Hi all. I've just bought an 86 LWB TD pajero with a long list of things to fix from the professional vehicle inspection report. I'm hoping to do a lot of the minor things myself. Most of them I can handle but I was hoping for a bit of advice from forumites where my knowledge is lacking. I will get ...

Thanks for the reply. It's the LWB... it did seem to rev pretty hard at even at 70 km/h, I was wondering about that! I hope you're right and mine's a good solid truck.

It needs the brakes done (shuddering pedal -- new rotors needed?) for sure and the inspector bloke reckoned it would need a new ...

Manuals

Hi all.

Just wondering if anyone knows where to get an electronic copy of a paj workshop manual. It's for a 1986 turbo diesel Pajero (not sure if it's the NC 2.3 or ND 2.5! Haven't picked it up yet). The link in the Bible no longer works.

Thanks Scott for the info and welcome. I'll probably be bugging you lot a bit to fix the minor bits and pieces I can do myself!! The inspection came through an hour ago -- turned up a few things but nothing too major. Phew, I need a beer. Buying a car is bloody stressfull!

1986 2.3 TD -- economy, performance etc?

Thinking about buying a 1986 Pajero 2.3 turbo diesel ... what can people tell me about these? What's the general feeling about them? what would fuel consumption be like? How sluggish are they with such a small motor for the size of the vehicle? What would common faults be? This one is a single ...

Rocky turbo intercooled vs turbo vs n/a

Hi, I'm looking at a couple of Rockys with a view to buy. One is the turbo diesel and the other afaik is naturally aspirated. Just wondering, how much of a difference does it make, on road and off? Is the n/a one frustrating or is it ok? I test drive a 4runner 2.8D (na) today and found it a bit ...

Thanks mate, I was thinkin the same thing, good to hear it confirmed. Which reliable dual cab 2.4-2.8 diesel for $8000 max

Ok, I've started a new thread because my requirements have changed and narrowed a lot since I started the last one.

The subject says it all. Reliability is more important to me than off-road ability within reason.

There was a similar thread here 3 years ago. Most people said the Navara and Rodeo ...
