Hi,

just wondering what people can tell me about the 3L V6 engine in mid-90s 4Runners? How reliable, fuel economy?

I have a 95 Camry with the 3L V6 which is a great motor but I believe it's not the same motor as the 4runner.

It's not second rate rubbish. But I agree, it's bloody stupid of them to be basically sneaking it in there. They're just asking for another scandal like ethanol. If they put it out in the open and used it as a selling point they'd make more money, avoid a media beatup, and people like me wouldn't ...

Much as a like the rockys they seemed a bit rare and so overpriced for someone in a hurry. I ended up with a Pajero 2.3 turbo diesel instead. A lot cheaper and less k's but a bit older than the Rockys I found. (1986 model, $3800, 170000 km, only 130000 on the motor, 1 lady owner, regular services ...

heh sounds like making it work at night is a lot more expensive than it's worth to me . Cheaper to just whack a big bright reversing light on

So mrx78u, what's a decent lux rating for a reversing camera? And how much can you get them for (pm if you like)?

Actually if you look on ebay you'll find they already have night vision of sorts-- IR LEDs and IR-senstive cameras, for peanuts

Has anyone here tried one of those reversing camera/monitor setups that clip over your existing rear view mirror? (A few people sell them on ebay, e.g. this ) How do you find it?

Just wondering if anyone knows where to get an electronic copy of a paj workshop manual. It's for a 1986 turbo diesel Pajero (not sure if it's the NC 2.3 or ND 2.5! Haven't picked it up yet). The link in the Bible no longer works.

well, I just took it for a drive then put a deposit on it... so positive replies only please . Actually hmm looking at redbook now maybe it was the 2.5, came in in Oct 1986. It certainly seemed to pull ok.

One more Q: how about the intercooled models, how do i know if it's got one (go easy me, never had a turbo before) and does it help much over the non-intercooled TD?

Thanks mate, I was thinkin the same thing, good to hear it confirmed. I reckon even if hiluxes are more reliable for a given number of k's, the lack of turbo is a turnoff. at the other then though I'd be worried about Triton given the problems people have with Magnas... hoping to find a good Rodeo ...

Getting closer now. The missus tried to walk to playgroup today and just about killed herself and the baby so now she's 100% behind getting a second vehicle :) . Plus, said she's happy for me to get a manual if an auto is too hard to find in what we want... so I recon dual cab lux with canopy here ...
