Re: Hilux diffs.. Brakes question

Standard one should be fine as hilux brakes are designed to stop a larger vehicle , and can be engineered , you might need a rear brake bias to avoid rear locking but not always , try it first , Cheers Paul.

I used a sprint car torsion bar . 300 lbs for my zuk , they where hollow with splined ends and had about 14 to 16 inch arms , they also had less rated bars , they flex very easy under load and kept it very stable on and off road , Cheers Paul. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p132/blownzuk ...

As said above , a cv which runs generally flat will not over heat and will last a lifetime in vehicle's without a great deal of deflection. They also have less load. A cv will not last very long at a sharp angle because they will overheat , become notchy and eventually fail. Centrifigal force will ...

Depends on how hard or soft your suspension is , probably need at least 50mm to allow for some bottoming of the suspension , but you need to flex it up and see what spacing you have and the position of the bumpstop with the new setup in relation to where it contacts the diff , Cheers Paul.

About 99% of barwork is in the correct notching , the pipe should almost touch each other right arround the join so a stick welder will work okay , it will allow more penetration than one of these cheaper mig welders , and once you get the hang of the stick you will be able to weld on all angles ...

Yes both ends will have locators , when machining the weld only do the half on the shaft side , not the uni or slip joint side to avoid machining the step off. The weld sits halfway across each section of the joint if you can understand that , also mark the shaft so the uni/slip joint go back in ...
