$500? And where is this? I want to know. Barsbys Holden spares at Maryborough Qld. A mate got one about 12 mths ago for his 85 DC Hilux. They had a 5.0L V8 with Auto and loom out of a VR sitting on the floor for $2200 that I was looking at for my 80 at the time. The 202 I have in my HK develops ...

Mate, with enough money you can fit 33's under anything. Actually, back in the mid 90's I saw a VB wagon with a Range Rover chassis and running gear under it on Fraser. Didn't look right though.....unlike the old Holden Overlander HZ's....now they looked tough.

Nope. 100 GXL & Lexus LX470 has 4.7L 2UZFE with either the H151F 5 spd manual box or the A750F 5 spd Auto box.

also the 308 is the same size as the 253 but with more power and more torque so i wouldnt waste my time with a 253 but thats just my opinion Not that much more though. In a hilux the 17Kw extra wouldn't be worth the extra cost if you already have a 253 sitting in your garage... ;) Holden 4.2L V8 ...

I looked at putting the 4.7 in my 80 but the cheapest I could find an engine for was $6500. Auto would probably add another $1000 to $1500. I ended up getting a Lexus 1/2 cut with 4.0L V8, auto box, ECU and loom for $1000. The 4.7 2UZFE is a 170Kw engine where the 4.0 1UZFE is a 195Kw engine. I'll ...

I thought VH SS's were a 308....hmmm.. The VH SS was also available with the 253 but not many were sold so they would be quite rare now. If its in a VH SS commodore with HDT plates HDT SS's were 308 only so it's not likely to be a HDT if the engine is a 253. mainly looking at gettin it coz its ...

The 80 series built after 93 were much stronger than the earlier models, I've had nothing but trouble with mine, front diffs, gearboxes. Didn't even have to drive it hard. One gearbox rebuild was driven on the road for 3 months then shit itself wasn't real impressed. 4wd stuff, i hope your 80 has ...

The early model 80 series sucks, they're more prone to breaking stuff no matter how you drive it That's crap MC. I've had my 90 model 80 for 8 yrs and haven't broken a thing. I haven't been soft with it and have driven over terrain that 100 series and GU patrols have broken CV's, diffs and trailing ...

Thanks Wal that was just the info we needed. We can bolt the flywheel, clutch and pressure plate off his old engine onto the 1hdt and the H150 gearbox will bolt straight up. I should be able to do the same with my 3F 80 which also has the H150 box. I have a 1UZFE Lexus V8 that I will be fitting in ...

80 series gearboxes????

Are the H150 and H151 gearboxes interchangeable? The H150 is on the standard diesel and the H151 is on the factory turbo diesel. A mate wants to fit a Factory TD in his standard diesel cruiser and we need to know if we will have to change out the g/box as well.
