The sagar continues. I baught a new GT40 R coil, and a new set of leads, which made the issue 10 times worse, couldnt even get it to run. It would start, then start back firing and all sorts. I had to put the old coil and leads on to get it home.

some fuel economy stats.

highway towing a 7x4.5 high sided trailer loaded with furniture 250km/35.5L = 14.2l/100km

mixed driving 150km highway empty trailer, 40km around town trailer loaded with rubbish 190km/33.80L = 17.79L/100km

currently i dont have one,

im doing the old time consuming method of altering the maps on my laptop, burning it to an eprom, installing it in the ecu and testing, then repeating this process, very time consuming/frustrating.

i plan to get the nistune board when funds permit, as i had to buy a new ...

wow you know a hell of alot more than i do about this. i was thinking of putting a haltech interceptor in to re-tune the motor.... or am i better off going with a stand alone. will that solve all my problems or do i have to look at getting bigger injectors and putting that fuel reg on you suggested ...

nope no pinging, i dont rev it higher then 3k very often,

its an afm based ecu, therefore fuel is governed by how much air is being drawn into the engine, on boost the leanest mixtures ive seen are 13.2.

i still havent regapped the plugs so there still 1.1 and it hasnt missed on boost.

if you can afford it, full aftermarket like a microtech or vipec etc.

that way you can run direct fire ignition and fuck off the distributer.

if it is popping on decel down hills etc then its still getting fuel when it shouldnt be.

you need to check and adjust the tps/idle switch.

either that or you have leaky injector seals.

if you plugged in a 2nd afm and got the same reading then theres a short in your wiring, as its reading the supplied voltage.

gregories workshop manuel states

oil pressure at idle ......more then 49kpa
oil pressure at 2800rpm 392 - 451kpa

mine had a similar problem, ran better with the afm disconnected.

turned out to be the fuelpump.

fuelpump was still working but not producing sufficient fuel pressure to even crack open the fuel pressure regulator.

easiest way to check if its the fuel pump is to remove the return hose at the fuel ...

Hey just a quick question Guy's, if 13's are too lean on petrol than 12's would be to lean on a boosted lpg engine right?

with petrol under boost you usually aim for between 11 - 12

lpg reads at a leaner ratio

stoich for petrol is 14.7 whereas lpg from memory is 15.5

so under boost on lpg you ...

They are a trick to setup on Gasresearch, it requires a vapour feed into the fast idle at the rear of the manifold that can be jetted or it will never acheive the same idle speed or quality as petrol.
These ECU's are somewhat generic, JECS? Hanve Nistune got that softed now, last I looked they were ...

yeah i know 13.2 is too lean on petrol under boost, its usually in the low 12's,
i know its running lean and am driving it accordingly and monitoring the wideband guage.
still drives alot better off boost then it ever did before, the impco 200's must put a huge restrictionon the intake.

td42 starters are reducten drive from memory, so thats proberly why its larger. also area 3 bolt whereas tb42 is 2 bolt.

i remember reading on here about the extra hole needing to be drilled and tapped.

4.8 km per litre works out to be 20.83 litres per 100 km. which is about
what non turbo tb42's would get under those conditions, and lpg should
use about 30% more.

its running alot better now, running 8psi, makes boost from around ...

only real dramas have been with the gas setup and the oil feed line,

the one that came with the turbo had an alloy block that bolted to the top of the turbo, the thread snapped off, so got fittings from pirtek which then the fitting on the end of the oil line decided to push out as i did up the ...

so you are running your injected tb42 on straight petrol at the moment with the turbo?

Are you running an aftermarket comp or factory? any other changes?

yeah straight petrol at the moment, new gas research b2 gas converter still in place, but have pulled the fuse out for ...

well ive ditched the lpg for now, until the new year when i start back at work and can get a new gas research throttle body.

cars going pretty good now with the factory throttle body, turbo seems to be a good size as its making around 7psi in 5th at 100, which will be great for towing,

also ...

afaik only RX and TI from late 92 on (the start of gq11) arethe only ones that where fuel injected.

allright, after some testing it seems the gas research throttle body i purchased second hand isnt sealing and is allowing air to be drawn thru the butterfly, rang gas research and theres a back log and might not get a new one until next year :bad-words:

hey mate, ive read a few of your posts and in one you said you where running a t3/t4 ith a .6# exhaust housing, did this cause you any problems?

im wondering where ive gone wrong, cant seem to make it idle happily.

or purchase an ecutalk cable to plug a laptop in and veiw faultcodes and engine data.

Thinking it may be vacuum hose's too.

currently putting the turbo onto my tb42e but am having problems with it not idling and just sitting there reving between 1750rpm and 2000rpm constantly.

i am ondering where you others with the efi models have plumbed the aacv(idle control) hose into? pre or post turbo.

you can buy the cables direct from ecutalk via ebay for like $70, there are MANY different softwares out there which work with the tb42e.

however according to the websites ive seen they state tb4 isnt supported even tho it has the same 14 pin plug.
