I have the Beaudesert 2 3/4 and made a big difference Block the EGR. Check on the Patrol forum and do a search. Clean ...

Hi Mundy Wouldn't the fuel pump between the GQ and GU be slightly different. One being electronic controlled whilst the GQ is machanical injection? I had this problem but after I installed a chip and a few other mods, the problem seems to have gone. Sorry but I cannot think of a solution other than ...

What engine are you talking about? I have just done the timing belt in my 2.8GU and it was a 27mm socket to get the pullet bolt out. I put the car in 4th, handbrake on and someone on the footbrake. I had a 1200mm length of piping over a 700mm breaker bar and it slowly came undone. Mind you the ...

I have a set of Federal Couragia mud terrains in 285/75R16 on the Patrol. Not as wide as my old BFG in the same size but find them great so far and not too noisy. At highway pressures in soft sand up at Crescent head they were fine and in the mud around Newnes State Forest were excellent. I have ...

My old carby GQ TB42 got around 30lt per 100km around town (mostly short trips) and on the highway around 25lt per 100km. Since then bought a 2.8TDi GU getting around 11km per 100km and with a chip, bigger exhaust and blocked EGR, about the same peak torque and power figures. Don't buy the 4.2 ...

Hi all Not For Highway Use is right. I kept my 4wd systems full cage rack from my old GQ in anticipation to fit it to the GU. I had it sandblasted, Zinc Coated and sprayed with Polyurethane and when the time came to fit it, sure enough the GU was 23mm narrower at the gutter. The gutter also has a ...

The 2.8 engine in the GU is the same but intercooled and electronic injection as opposed to mechanical in the GQ. The power outputs are better in the GU and with mods can be greatly improved. When I had a budget price and was looking around I quickly steered away from the 3lt diesel and looked at 4 ...

Chip and Exhaust could be between $2000 and $2500 all up. The EGR can be done for next to nothing. Check out the topic by doing a search on the Patrol4x4 forum. My Exhaust is a 2 3/4" from Beaudesert exhaust in Qld fitted by my local Midas. The chip is a SanCo one from Denmark that they sent me at ...

Hi Tennismark I have had my 1998 2.8GU for about 6 months now after upgrading from a 4.2 petrol GQ. I have had a bigger exhaust and dump pipe fitted, chipped and blocked EGR with great results. It is a much nicer ride for daily driving, lot quieter ans smoother. The gearbox in the 2.8 is a smaller ...

Hi Slosh Just check the dump pipe flange plate pattern. I have the 2.8 GU and recently put on a 2 3/4 exhaust and searched for dump pipes but the Nissan Patrol is only a 4 bolt pattern not a 5 bolt like a lot of Garrett Turbos. I think the exhaust side is custom made by Nissan. You can buy a 2 3/4 ...

I have just recieved a chip from Europe for my 2.8 GU. It is distributed by SanCo in Denmark but manufactured in Germany. The 2.8 was a popular engine in Europe and considerable R&D was commited in making this chip. From what they tell me, it could be one of their first chips in Australia. I have ...

Go to the Patrol4x4 forum website. There has been plenty of discussion on it and it turns out to be a pump issue. It can be fixed with a plate and o'ring. I have similar problems with my 2.8GU. I put in a larger battery and it seems to fire most times within 3 seconds when hot. In extreme cases it ...
