Rear main seal, 100 Series, 4.5 petrol

Hi all. I did some searching but couldn't find what I was after. Could any of you please tell me if the rear main seal on the 4.5 petrol in a 02 Cruiser is retained by a cover plate or is it a drop the sump job? I'm just trying to get a feel for how deep I'll have to go. And... any idea how heavy ...

I've needed poly-rib pulleys in the past and after talking with a few machine shops, decided that it would be cheaper to find a pulley of the appropriated diameter at a wrecker, cut the centre out of it and either get an adaptor made (bolted on to my harmonic balancer in this case) or in the case of ...

So looking at the title and the picture, you only lock down one end of the threaded section and let the other end twist as needed?

Thanks for that,

HRZOOK how radical is your ride? Can you feel if the bushes are doing what they are meant to on road, or are they that flexy that you would never put them on a daily driver? I am toying with replacing the shagged bushes on the back of the Nissan. I guess they could only "feel" better than what I ...

Does anybody have any experience with ORI’s Polyflex bushes? http://www.offroadindustries.com/suspension_parts/polyflex.htm http://www.offroadindustries.com/suspension_parts/img/polyflex_1.jpg I would be interested to hear what people think of them. Flex, handling, longevity etc etc. Paul.

Sam, can you also please tell me if you have the large diameter slotted bushes available or just the 51mm units.

Thanks,

I have a combo of Snap-On, Craftsman, Proto, Sid and SK and my advice/caution would be: 1. 1/2" Repco stuff is large and "I" find it cumbersome to use 2. 3/8" quality gear is smaller, easier to use and get into tight spots and more that strong enough for the (sensible) home user. 3. Look at how you ...

Dreama, I'm no Yota expert, but I believe that you will need to move the spring perches to the top of the Cruiser axle (so it's not just a bolt in and go sort of thing (Thus rotating the housing to suit lift is not a huge issue)) and from memory??? the Cruiser axle is about 3" wider than the Lux ...

Roctruk,

Go have a look at Canberra Toyota Fyshwick. Go down the side of the building past the service bays and just behind the chain link fence, by the gate, in the grass are/were a couple of 16x7 Prado rims and 16x8 80 series rims. Might be the easiest just to measure them up.

EL Falcon (Bosch) do around 110A but run a multi rid belt. It wouldn't be hard to swap pulleys if needed and Super Cheap Auto were selling them for $150 brand new.

Without a press, is it possible to get the (front) disk off of a Lux solid axle hub? I've seen the IFS hubs where the wheel studs are part of hub, but with the solid axle hub the studs seem to be mounted into disk and poke through the hub. I've tried to pound the hub from the disk but to no avail ...

Just my 2 cents, but I would never put a full time locker in the front. On a slippery surface where you need to turn, the front will just push out. Ruff, the Chev V6's (229's) have the date cast on them. Have a look at the TOP rear of the block near where the bell housing would bolt up (oil filter side) half way between the upper bell housing bolt holes and the dowel.

It might not be real person friedly, but if you rock that bent piece forward a little you will gain more protection for your lights and could loop your winch cable around it while on the track rather than have to wind it in and out each time you need it.
