Rear main seal, 100 Series, 4.5 petrol
Hi all. I did some searching but couldn't find what I was after. Could any of you please tell me if the rear main seal on the 4.5 petrol in a 02 Cruiser is retained by a cover plate or is it a drop the sump job? I'm just trying to get a feel for how deep I'll have to go. And... any idea how heavy ...

I've needed poly-rib pulleys in the past and after talking with a few machine shops, decided that it would be cheaper to find a pulley of the appropriated diameter at a wrecker, cut the centre out of it and either get an adaptor made (bolted on to my harmonic balancer in this case) or in the case of ...

HRZOOK how radical is your ride? Can you feel if the bushes are doing what they are meant to on road, or are they that flexy that you would never put them on a daily driver? I am toying with replacing the shagged bushes on the back of the Nissan. I guess they could only "feel" better than what I ...

To add a visual representation to Sam's comments on four links and radius arms. I have an excel spreadsheet that I made a while ago that will show you how different 4 link and radius arm designs will behave. It is not a super friendly or sexy looking thing, but it will show you how the arms will ...

They were selling the Nissan factory manuals numerous years back, and for a lot less than Nissan was.

I have a combo of Snap-On, Craftsman, Proto, Sid and SK and my advice/caution would be: 1. 1/2" Repco stuff is large and "I" find it cumbersome to use 2. 3/8" quality gear is smaller, easier to use and get into tight spots and more that strong enough for the (sensible) home user. 3. Look at how you ...

Dreama, I'm no Yota expert, but I believe that you will need to move the spring perches to the top of the Cruiser axle (so it's not just a bolt in and go sort of thing (Thus rotating the housing to suit lift is not a huge issue)) and from memory??? the Cruiser axle is about 3" wider than the Lux ...

Hypo, I got my spacers from Chaos and the ISF hubs out of Franks Parts Plus in Canberra (I know one of the guys, so they give me half-reasonable prices). Looking at it now that it’s all apart, it appears that the studs actually engage into the hub and just pass through the disk, thus the problems I w ...

Done. You were right Brad. Undo the two bolts and press out the studs. Thanks. Hypo, I'm about 2 days ahead of you. I ended up using my vehicle jack inside an old metal frame the Mrs uses as a pot plant potting table and pressed out each stud. Once they were out the hub and the disk came apart by ...

Without a press, is it possible to get the (front) disk off of a Lux solid axle hub? I've seen the IFS hubs where the wheel studs are part of hub, but with the solid axle hub the studs seem to be mounted into disk and poke through the hub. I've tried to pound the hub from the disk but to no avail ...

Cruiser axle widths, again....
Hi All. Well we are now in South Aus and the Engineering requirements to keep Transport SA happy is going to be a PITA compared to NSW/ACT. Anyway. I remember a post a while ago talking about 60 and 80 Series FRONT axles and their widths. From memory someone said that the housings on the 60's and 80 ...

Hypo, you got it in one. The projects been going for a while, but the plan is to put a Lux front axle under the nose with a five link and coil-overs. The Pissan 4Cyl has been replaced with a 229 Chevy V6 and a R151 Toy gearbox and T-case will give me 60% lower gearing and move the front output to ...

Lux front spring length.
Guys, can any of you please tell me what the distance is between the front spring chassis mounts for a Hilux (ie, the distance from the front mounting point to the rearward mounting point) and how far back the axle centre line is from the front mounting point of the spring. (Assuming stock locations ...

Just my 2 cents, but I would never put a full time locker in the front. On a slippery surface where you need to turn, the front will just push out. (Not a good thing if you are on a tight trail or a side slope etc etc) If the rear is good nick, keep the LSD and put an ARB or Jack Mc in the front ...

Anybody know what the wheeling is like in South Aus? PS. If you can get up into the hills is it ...
