If you want the best "straight bolt on" brakes the 4.8 petrol GU's have the biggest brakes (disc's and calipers/pads) of all the Patrols. Youd need 16"+ rims though
I'd steer clear of slotted rotors too.
cheers GU brakes dont bolt straight on to a GQ you have to change the whole front diff housing ...

yes i have had the same problem in my front locker the whole thing was scrap metal. I have also broken rear lockers where the housings failed but ask ARB and they will tell you they have never seen it before

The play will be from the cross pins the spider gears run on .Because the pins aren't one piece and are only supported where they go though the case they flog out the case. Eventually the gears will break as i have seen happen a few times. Its serious design fault one that ARB don't seam to care ...

The flange is part of the axle it does not come off. If you want to remove the bearing and retainer from the axle it just press's off, but you will probably need to replace the bearing as pressing off usually damages them

yes they are cut the other way around so the pinion drives on the right side of the teeth you would have to fit the diff upside down

You need to disassemble the diff and put your crown wheel onto the locker housing so you diff ratio will remian whatever it is now.

the RD78A has been discontinued the new number for the front patrol locker is RD136 it has a new modifed housing and takes 50mm id side carrier bearings. they should have done this to the rear locker instead of the front as its the one that breaks housings
