G/box balance pipe

My ln106 has a hose connecting the gearbox and transfercase filler plugs. Is it possible for the gearbox to pump its oil into the transfercase or vice versa?. That is the reason the pipe is there I assume. My concern is because the gearbox filler is higher it will be constantly low on oil.

Thanks fellas, im not really in a position to do a surf turbo myself at the moment due to work commitments and lack of a shed. Would a garret turbo generally be considered the best brand?.

I have done a search, many in fact, here and elsewhere  . Most of the info was about surf turbos or didnt mention which brand of system was used. I was after some comparisons or reports on which brand of system might be best.

Hilux 2.8 Turbo

I picked up a 96 dual cab last week with only 130000ks and are looking to turbo it. Anyone have any feedback on the various bolt on systems eg. DTS, Safari etc. Also is there any difference between watercooled and oil cooled? Is a boost compensater required? most bolt on systems dont mention one ...
