Re: GU Rear Wheel Bearings

Thanks for the info Dave. Im no longer in Sydney moved down south a while ago and havent updated yet. It has to be the bearings. Re: GU Rear Wheel Bearings

Cheers Maverick. I am going to hope its the bearings and just change them. Any idea on cost from a bearing comany off the top of your head and any brands to get or steer clear of? Do worn bearings make this rumbling sound? It is there between 70ks and say 100ks worst at 90ks and regardless of ...

Re: GU Rear Wheel Bearings

Thanks for the reply AJ. I know they are known to be bulletproof but doesnt mean they cant go. They have no play in them and arent noisy at all untill about 70kmh (if that is what the noise is). I had a look on ebay and they are like $150 a side plus then I will need to get them pressed out. Just ...

GU Rear Wheel Bearings

I have been chasing a noise in the rear of my wagon now for a while and gave up for a bit but it is getting louder. The noise is like a rumble in a grrr grrr grrr grrr sort of pattern. It is heard most at 90ks and gets softer at 100ks. Its enough to send me nuts. Today I pulled the rear axles out in ...

RB25DET into GU Patrol

Does anyone know the legalities of replacing a RD28 with a RB25DET motor in NSW????? I know it has been done in VIC, WA and SA but am unsure of the rules in NSW. I am planning on contacting an engineer (can anyone suggest one) but thought someone might know if it is possible without too many mods ...

TD42 GQ box into GU???

Is it possible to fit a GQ gearbox from a td42 into a GU? I know that the shifters are in a different position, but are they the same box apart from that and can the shifters be changed or something to make the box fit properly?

I am guessing someone has done a holden injected 5 litre into a a GU wagon before?
What sort of fuel economy are you guys getting out of them?
Also would it be better to go manual or auto?

Cheers in advance

I had a 3" lift in my GU and the drivers side rear sat 25mm lower than the rest. I swapped coils and mucked around, got a replacement set under warranty and ended up fitting a spacer to fix it, untill I saved some more cash and fitted megalift coils and I have never been happier. Better flex, holds ...

If you don't want flexy coils get the usual linear Dobinsons coils. Dobinsons do have a better manufacturing proces for coils. Shane Someone was telling me that dobinsons werent that good and most of the time you ended up with a 4b with different heights at all four corners requiring coil spacers ...

Im with ozy the lower arms are adjusted out too long. When adjusted out longer than standard they will rotate the diff round untill a certain point and then every mm wound out it just pushes the diff back. The uppers should be used to correct pinion angle.

make sure you loctite the crankshaft bolt in place as they come loose. This happened to me about a month ago and stuffed the key and balancer. Got away with minimal damage to the crank luckily. I did last weekend. The main crank bolt came loose and the balancer moved forward and snapped off the key. New balancer, key, fan belts, timing belt kit were fitted and seems OK for now. $825 was the cost of the parts. I used loctite on the bolt when I reinstalled it. It did minimal damage to the ...

As the topis says who would have an angle meter?????????
I have read some posts on here about setting up pinion angles, and some have mentioned using and angle meter to get the angles correct, but I cant seem to find anyone who knows what one is let alone have one.
