Rear diff help - Have searched

Oil leaking from where drive-shaft attaches to diff (pinion?) in '91 sierra. Is the seal easy to replace for a semi-novice? How much should I expect to pay?

I agree. The gearbox in a zook is a super light weight if you compare it to something like a patrol. I'm only a little takka so I convinced a mate to climb under with me and it was out in about 55min (and I had no idea how to do it at the time).

continuing G13bb idle dramas

I have given up on sorting out my idle probs and taken the sierra (G13bb) to a mechanic.

As I understand it, the 'throttle body' (not sure if that's the correct description being an efi motor) is not closing enough for the engine to idle at the correct revs. Apparently all of the electronics are ...

Thanks for the ideas.

To clarify: when the engine is rev'd, it returns to an idling speed, but immediately speeds back up to what sounds like about 2500 rpm (very approximate as there is no tacho yet).

G13bb idle problems

I've finally got around to finishing my G13bb engine conversion (into my '91 Sierra). It starts!

Now the problem is that the engine is reving too high at idle, as though the choke is always on. Anyone got any advise to offer? Is it possible that I'm missing a sensor (feed back loop)?

Cheers

Hey guys,

Just noticing a bit of slack in the driveline when I back off and accelerate. I know that there is always going to be some slack, but how much? What is the most likely source? Is there a way of measuring this and comparing to standard?

Ok, long story short:

My '91 Sierra (just purchased) is chewing through a LOT of oil (we're talkin' >1.5L in 1000km!). It is not leaking anywhere. I have not seen any smoke, but was told that there were small puffs of blueish smoke under heavy acceleration. There is oil on the air-filter (but no ...

Hi,

I do about 50:50 onroad/offroad driving, and am what sort of new tyres to get, i.e. A/T's or M/T's. Offroad driving is usually in bush tracks, some rocky trails, and very rarely on the beach.

Another question: Is it better to get:
- cheap and nasty tyres cos they'll only get cut/chipped ...

ok,

So the mods planned so far are suspension, wheels, exhaust with extractors, and alarm/immobiliser... who the hell do you guys insure with?

the best I've got is GIO at $650ish, but that didnt include the exhaust or extractors.

Just wondering who are the best insurers to call?

Is it possible to run 30" tyres with only 2" OME spring lift with no rub in the guards or on the suspension? What offset will I need on the rims?
