I'm no diesel mechanic but you would have to asume that that oil mist is being drawn into the engine and burnt. It is a sign of worn rings and bores, which in a normally asperated 2H might not a big deal? With the turbo it means lots of blow by, which was why mine was using oil under load.
My ...

Had the same problem with mine, though it only seemed to use oil during a hard run ie. towing or under load. The PO had removed the breather for the rocker cover from the air inlet and just had it venting via a hose down the side of the motor, this is were all of my oil went. (the underneath of the ...

I usually fill up after around 600 to 640km, takes between 75 and 80l
That makes it 8km per litre or 12.5l per 100km's. For a 2 tonne+ car with the areodynamics of a brick I am happy with that. Its not that much worse than the wife falcon.

I've been running a switzer on the old 60 for over ten years now, no waste gate and no troubles so far. The highest the boost gauge has got is around 10psi, i just back off a bit when it gets that high (can't be to careful)

I inherited a schwitzer from the PO, I think it is a bit big for the motor though as it doesn't start to spool untill 1500rpm and max's out about 10psi. It looks like a bit of a back yard job so I am looking at replacing it with a Garrett T3 watercooled turbo, from turbo tech (in Perth) or a 12HT ...

My old 2H does the same thing, I asked the old bloke at the local truck workshop, (he has been it the deisel game a long time), what the problem was. He suggested that is was one of the pots down on compression and that pot does not fire untill it warms up and the rings are able to hold the pressure ...

my 60 had them when i bought it. There were three of them and they were all bolted into the floor of the cargo area. The previous owner had simply drilled a whole through the floor and then bolted them in

I did the same to mine, just make sure you us the large washer and bolt supplied with the ...

I have just fitted 16x8" rims to my hj60, the determining factor was nothing but the availabity/selection of the tyre size.
I wanted a 32" tyre without going over 10.5" width(went with 265/75).
I am also lead to believe that the load rating of 16" tyres is greater?

Hope this helps

There is another option - Go back to 32" tyres.

Of the three options you have given, the cheapest would be the 12HT, Reason - I personnly would not put a turbo on a motor that has done over 400K, so you can add the cost of a rebuild to your third option.
A 1HZ would be nice but engine ...
