Black Canister - What is it

Greetings all

There's a black canister under my hood in the way of where I want to put a second battery, it has two hoses connected to it, one labelled "to tank" and the other "purge".

What is it? Can I get rid of it?

cheers fellas

Does anyone know if there will be a problem if I put the bolts the other way round when I re-fit the shaft? It is better that way because you can access the nuts with a socket (or an impact socket as they were really hard to get off).

Well it was exactly like Bajan Tim, one axis on a uni is ceased. What is the best way to fix? Complete new jackshaft or get someone to rebuild unis? I would imagine the jackshaft would have to come from suzuki which would be expensive would it? Although I don't know if its worth fixing an old shaft ...

jackshaft diagnosis

Hi All I have a vibration problem in my 1991 suzuki sierra. The vibration is there in two wheel drive, four wheel drive and in front wheel drive (with tail shaft removed). Vibration continues with clutch in and gear in neutral. That means problem is in gearbox output shaft, jackshaft or transfer ...

What if you put the cornflour in the oil and don't use water?

Would it still be a dilatant mixture though?

you can just put the cornflour in the front diff so you it only turns when you are off road which is normally not going too fast.

Has anyone tried putting a corn flour / water mix in the diff? Its a dilatant mixture - gets thicker when subject to sheer. So it will grip when you get large difference in wheel speeds.

DIY Limited Slip Diff

Greetings all I don't 4wd enough to warrant spending more money than what i bought my sierra for fitting a diff locker to it. Also I don't want to weld the rear diff because 99% of my driving is around the city. Is it possible to put grease or blu-tac or something in the front diff to turn it into a ...

Well I took the hub apart, and I think what lay80n said was correct. When moving the selector from lock to free it retracts but does not pull the locking collar. I guess I just need to thread the spring through the locking collar?

Hub Jammed

Hi All The front right hub on my sierra is jammed locked. The selector still moves easily from free to locked and back but the hub remains locked to the axle. Spose I just need to pull the hub apart and see whats going on. Any thoughts on what the problem might be and tips on pulling hubs apart ...

I am confused. There are two screws and this is what I understand them to be: 1. Idle mixture - protudes from the carby at an angle and without any tamperproof sleeve. This screw adjusts the idle mixture which in turn adjusts the idle revs. 2. Fuel mixture - protudes horizontally from the carby and ...

Fuel Mixture Adjustment 91 sierra 1.3L

Hi all I am messing around with the fuel mixture on my carby to see if I can get better fuel econony. Of course not having any equipment to do it properly makes it a bit of trial and error. I think I have found the right screw - it is at the bottom of the craby facing the rocker cover with an anti ...

Yeah everything is standard, and I keep the tyres pumped up hard too. I thought I saw in some specification on the interent that the sierra is rated at 8.5L/100. No one actually gets that?

1.3L 1991 Sierra Fuel Consumption

Hi All I drive my cars really gently to save fuel, coasting down hills and to traffic lights, accelerating slowly, barely using any brakes, slip streaming trucks etc. Driving my past cars, normally I use around 20% less fuel than the rated consumption rate. Now I have a Sierra, driving it the same ...

I think its using too much petrol so I figure some sort of extra resistance in the gearbox could be the cause. Does anyone else's Sierra do the same?

Revs dip when clutch closed

Greetings all When running with the clutch in on my 1.3L Sierra, if I quickly let out the clutch the revs drop by around 200rpm then recover 100rpm to stay around 100rpm below what it was with the clutch in. This is not normal for other manual vehicles that I have driven. Is this normal for Sierras ...

I don't think its any of those problems because it idles smoothly. It either idles smoothly at 1500rpm or smoothly at 300rpm. It might change from 1500 to 300 a couple of times in a 30 minute trip.

Erratic idling on Sierra

Greetings all My 1991 1.3L Suzuki Sierra idles for long periods of time at 1500rpm and then at other times it idles at 300rpm. The is no pattern to when it revs 1500 and when it revs 300, its random. The 300rpm seems to be the actual idle set point as I have adjusted the idle set screw right out to ...
