Re: The Welding Thread

Quick question ... my dad has an old 1 or 3 phase (convertible) 250A Lincoln welder with high and low ranges that he needs to get rid of ... it's probably from the 1970's and is the size of an under-desk set of filing drawers. Is it the kind of thing that anyone would want anymore or does he just ...

Re: Alternator problems :(

Grave dig for future reference by others. Found this in a search re something else and thought I should update as to the solution. Wasn't the alternators at all ... was the pulley slipping on the shaft  Hence the alt light coming on at higher revs. Had to swap the multi-V Falcon pulley for a V ...

Most mid to large passenger sedans and wagons would not get below 10 litres per 100.
Commadore, Falcon, Camry, Magna etc will do high 10's at best when driven @ 110 with load on board and far worse in stop go traffic.
Nup, disagree with that. I had an EL Fairmont Ghia with the (very slightly ...

Realised I never posted a pic of the finished bar. Here 'tis. :)

Lightforce 170's mount on tabs on top of bullbar cross tube, above and just slightly closer together than the XGTs, for country trips. Also drilled a couple of 25mm holes in the mount plates for recovery points.

Any chance you could do a quick 'how to' write up for TIG settings awill? Just explaining the general effect of 2T/4T, pulse width, pulse frequency, AC frequency, AC balance, etc?

I guess it's too hard to teach road rules as well as flow and timing, which is 90% of driving a car and especially a manual IMHO. Diff position tolerance

I'm doing RUF on my Zook and have discovered that my drill template slipped when I drilled the driver's side perch - it's now 3mm further forward than the perch on the passenger's side.

I've measured from the ends of the diff (where it narrows to meet the CV) to where the bumper bar outrigger meets ...

Perth to Adelaide is generally a bit easier on fuel than Adelaide to Perth due to tail winds across the Nullabor.
