Re: The Welding Thread
Quick question ... my dad has an old 1 or 3 phase (convertible) 250A Lincoln welder with high and low ranges that he needs to get rid of ... it's probably from the 1970's and is the size of an under-desk set of filing drawers. Is it the kind of thing that anyone would want anymore or does he just ...

Re: Alternator problems :(
Grave dig for future reference by others. Found this in a search re something else and thought I should update as to the solution. Wasn't the alternators at all ... was the pulley slipping on the shaft  Hence the alt light coming on at higher revs. Had to swap the multi-V Falcon pulley for a V ...

Any chance you could do a quick 'how to' write up for TIG settings awill? Just explaining the general effect of 2T/4T, pulse width, pulse frequency, AC frequency, AC balance, etc?
I bought a cheapy WeldSmart 200P as they're based locally in WA and were the only AC TIG I could find for under $4k+ at ...

I guess it's too hard to teach road rules as well as flow and timing, which is 90% of driving a car and especially a manual IMHO. I work very hard at this, and I'm quite proud that I can drive at about 8/10ths (on a familiar road) with my wife asleep in the seat next to me. I'm not trying to talk ...

Agreed with the ease at which scum can steal these lights, I have to come up with a way to prevent mine being nicked, also, the 'traditional' lightforce lights can stick out too far on some bullbars, not a problem with my 45, but hilux bullbars come immediately to mind. Might ask the brass on AHN ...

They look nice ... which is the most important thing when buying spotties, right?
When are Lightforce going to help us keep our lights by coming up with a theft resistant mounting system though? I guess they like the turnover ... more sales ... but the up/down pivot bolt is just dopily easy ...

Diff position tolerance
I'm doing RUF on my Zook and have discovered that my drill template slipped when I drilled the driver's side perch - it's now 3mm further forward than the perch on the passenger's side.
I've measured from the ends of the diff (where it narrows to meet the CV) to where the bumper bar outrigger meets ...

Had the same on my Zook with the 235/75R15 MTRs on there. Rear of the tread blocks (right hand side of photo) wearing quicker than the front. Both front and rear tyres. This is at about 30,000km ... front of tread is 12-13mm; rear is 10-11mm. Always ran them at 20psi too.

Nah definitely going black alien - can't imagine it looking right in white, especially when it won't colour match the Zook and will have large black spotties fitted.
Weighs 33.8kg ... its flamin' heavy. Would have been smarter to cut the entire thing out of 4mm plate in retrospect.

Well finally got my butt into gear and got it (almost) finished. It's now in primer - still needs a few holes drilled for mounts and spotties and a lick of bog before it gets painted, but its 95% there. Pretty pleased with how it turned out! Never trying another one though ... I'm just too slow at ...

Perth to Adelaide is generally a bit easier on fuel than Adelaide to Perth due to tail winds across the Nullabor. Mine isn't real good on economy at the best of times tho - I've never seen better than 10L/100km out of it when taking it easy, and never get worse than 11.5L/100km when thrashing it. So ...
