Re: 80 series hardnto change gears
I'd be weary of the vmx-m as it is a lower grade of oil than what the cruiser box needs. I changed to it before a trip up to the N.T. and by the time I got back the gearbox was noisey. Changed the oil out and it was full of metal. My guess is it broke down under the extra heat up north and made the ...

Re: fuel tank air lock ???
Have you tried driving with the cap loose? If that doesn't work I'd say it could be cavitation from all the filters or is your lift pump feeding straight into the high pressure pump? That could also be causing cavitation/vapour lock when it heats up a little bit.

Re: LS1 Return line help
Make it easy for your self and get rid of the bosch and regulator and use the factory commodore pump with internal regulator. Guaranteed to work and no problems at all and dead quiet with a real low price tag too :) on the lux you can probably just chuck the commodore tank in somewhere and make it ...

Re: Headlight upgrades, my experience.
Did you replace the whole light/reflector or just the globes with the hid setup? The HID conversion I did on my 80 which was the whole light and globe setup hobzee used to sell and it is awesome. I pulled my spotlights off because the hid's just outshone them and had made them useless.

Our one was an 84 aswell. They carbs on them are awesome compared to the 1.3's so in good knick I reckon you probably could get economy that good. Our's burnt and leaked oil and was old and worn out which is probably why our economy was crap.

Re: 1 litre suzi
They are still pretty bad on fuel cos your driving them full throttle to get anywhere. But if you drive em slow they aren't to bad. My 1.3 gets between 8.5-9l/100km but it is bog stock apart from the gsx carbs and a mid range cam. From memory the 1litre we used to have would do about 10L/100km ...

Re: 44mm harley davidson cv carby
They would go better than a standard carby. I did a fair bit of research on the harley conversion but decided on using the 4x 32mm carbs from a gsx. It was just easier and cheaper in the end and I reckon the gsx would have a little bit more go than the harley carb.

Re: 1 litre suzi
They are ok for driving around town but one the open road they are slow. With stock wheels you can do 110km tho. I fail to see how cutting a zook into a ute would make it better as a tourer? They are to small and uncomfy to use as a tourer unless you pack well and have upgraded the seats.

I'm gunna keep an eye on this thread because my headers from marks are looking pretty rusty and shitty too and mine are about 1 1/2 yrs old now and i don't even drive it through mud/water/salt.

10 should be alright as long as you get it tuned right and keep the fuel up to it. It has 6bolt mains standard which is pretty damn strong.

Pretty much what you will need going from my memory:
Bell housing adapter and clutch parts from marks adapters,
Block hugger headers from marks (other brands may work but marks definitely fit)
I used a 4terrain clutch as they are much better priced compared to what marks are and the 11inch clutch ...

I'd recommend the vss i'm goin to be putting it into my cruiser as it doesn't matter how I drive at the moment I always get between 19-22L/100km with a standard ls1. Once you have the standard vss i think you can use the commodores cruise control which is a bonus.

Re: Holley/Webber on a 1.3
Neither of those carbies are very good. The stock carby is too finicky and over complicated and the webers take alot of work to run properly offroad. I found the best bolt on carb swap is the carb of a corolla 3k/4k as they are fairly simple carbs. Very cheap to get too.

So you reckon the mq diff would be to heavy? I can get an mq diff cheap which is why i suggested it plus worn out 31 inch tyres are very easy to come by on the standard 6 stud rims.

So anything will fit if i have the money. I can't be bothered going for a full 4wd zook I already got 2 licensed fourbies and have too unlicensed motorless zooks so i think one should be a burnout car
So what diff would you recommend? MQ? Old ford/holden?

Re: Biggest motor in a sierra
So a 350 will even fit! That'd be awesome! I was looking at my ls1 but I think it'd be a bit hard to squeeze it in and get any form of exhaust manifold on (is tight enough fit in my 80series). I'm leaning towards the commo 6 for cheapness of all parts and i can't complain about $400 motor changes ...

Biggest motor in a sierra
So what is the biggest motor and gearbox that people have fitted into a sierra? Has anyone fitted an old cast iron holden 253 or 308 in the engine bay or should I just stick to the dunnydore v6? Its for a burnout car and yes I will be putting a bigger rear diff and strength to the chassis if its ...

Re: 2.4l toyota diesel into a zook?
If your going to fit a cast iron lump in the front of a zook put a 253 or 308 or something there so at least it'd sound good before breaking the chassis. I'm pretty sure a 1.6Vit motor has more poke on paper than the diesel motor and has a useable power range (unlike any possible diesel you could ...

If they are springs from a pre 92 80 they will lift your cruiser an inch. I put 105 springs in my 80 and it dropped the height. Shocks fit fine too.

Re: suzuki GSXR carby on suzuki samurai
It'd be the same as putting them on the 1.3 motors just you probably won't have to fiddle with the jetting as much if you got the carbs from a 750. If you were to do it the 750 carbs are the go as the spread between the carbs is alot closer and almost perfectly matches the 1.3 head so you'd have to ...

Yes it can be done I've recently put gsx750 carbs on my 1.3 sierra. Sure its not your choke stuck on? Aisin carbs are good at jamming the choke on. If your throttle was open all the time it'd be running fast all the time as it controls the fuel and air flow.

Big oil cooler setup would increase the oil capacity by a bit and would keep the oil at a nice temperature when your giving it a bootful.
