Yeah very weird! Rather pathetic that so many manufactures cannot provide a product that fits........ :( Well i reckon that i will get my money back and go down the rebuilt path as well then. Yeah i must admit im not too keen on messing with the factory mounts and than not being able to fit a standard alternator if this large one dies out in the bush....

yep, had the same problem with a replacement alternator..... Pissed me off, but I shaved the bottom mount like you have and then took the top bracket off, two bolts by memory, and bent the bracket a little bit, hammer and a vice, to get it to fit, might have taken one or two attempts to get it ...
