I think he's asking if he's better to buy a TD42 GQ Ti and upgrade it to the same power as an 80series TD Sahara standard. Being that the 80 series is a much more expensive vehicle to buy.

Chasing Info on building a high output TD42. Currently own a 90 model TD42, which i've read is one of the stronger models with piston cooling jets, stronger pistons/rods... Is this true?

I've also read that Nissan or UD released a DI TD42 engine in a japanese truck which never got released in Aus ...

fitted 2X 7w2327 Cat oil filters to my td42 the other day after hearing they were the correct filter from some hastings lads... have worked fine... spent $25 if i recall correctly for the two... figured i should start using quality filters and good oil ...
