Well, the deicision's made on the trans then. I do about 25km of freeway per day going to and from work. Durn it, the 5spd would have been fun. But not in a 20-minute stop&go bridge lineup. I wanted to do some cross-province traveling with the family next year too, so AT it is. Thanks for the ...

Hi Phil, that's exactly where my path is currently headed :). I've decided to explore Terra2Imports as an option for now, and Jerry there said today that I could follow your recommendation and go grade 4 Gen II 4dr Exceed for about $8-9K all-in. Maybe even less at an auction. I also decided that I ...

Difficulty level of an NG front-end rebuild?
Anyone done one themselves? The NG Exceed I was looking at needs pretty much every front-end part replaced. If i have to pay a shop to do it, it becomes cost-prohibitive. If I can do it myself, I'll still get a good deal out of it. Is this something I can do myself without formal training or a hoist ...

Well guys, I had the 1990 turbo-diesel Exceed model checked out at a JDM-specialty shop, and it's gonna cost a small fortune to get it 100%. Needs: all balljoints, all tie-rod ends, 4 shocks, 4 tires, front calipers, rear rotors, timing belt/water pump/gaskets, some hoses are cracking, and all brake ...

Phil, thanks for the GenII suggestion. maybe for the next one . I should be able to score this one for about $6000, which is WAY less than I've ever seen any GenIIs going for out here on the Wet Coast (S intentionally left out :p). Plus, there's just something about the boxy Gen Is. I have a ...

It's a pretty low-rent used car lot/importer that has the 1989 gasser. Not fly-by-night, but no class act either. That's a British Columbia plate, so someone at the dealership has had the vehicle insured locally for regular use. Not sure if that's good or bad. LOL.. Rejected personal vehicle? Or a ...

The diesel I was looking at has 180,000km on it, and the few diesel shops I spoke to said it would be due for a new turbo around 200,000. Plus, we're headed for having only Ultra-Low-Sulfur diesel here, and I understand it's not going to be good for these older traditional diesel engines in the long ...

I'm going to have to take a good look at this one again. Check my latest post for details about the 1990 turbo-diesel! Thanks to all the input here, and a call to a local diesel shop turning me away from the 2.5 TDI, I'm going to be making an offer on this one over the weekend. How's it look to you ...

2.5TDI (4D56TI) on Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel?
Anyone know if ULS diesel is going to have any adverse long-term effects on the 2.5TDI in the 1990 LWB Exceed I'm looking at? Seems our Canadian diesel is going that way..
Thanks,
Duncan
Thanks,
Duncan

LWB NG Pajero.. Auto V6 or 2.5TDI for daily driver/fun?
Hi guys, I'm looking at 2 1990 LWB Pajeros right now, both have auto transmissions, and have almost the same price, about $6500 CDN. Basically similar condition (good to very-good), except the diesel has 180,000 km, and the gasser 3.0 has 86,000km. Diesel and gas are about the same price here IN ...
