Apparently he had a heap of other work done, and it appears the gearbox came to around $4500 including labour. Still doesn't explain the thing still jumping out of gear though!

Troopy jumping out of 5th gear

I'm sure this is a pretty common problem, as my old 92 model did it also, but a search showed nothing. My Dad's 86 model 4.0L diesel troopy was jumping out of 5th gear. The problem had got that bad, that he put it into the mechanic for repairs. He picked it up yesterday, and $7500 later it's still ...

Pre-purchase Defender inspection - Kurri Kurri?

Anyone know where I can get a Defender I'm looking to purchase in Kurri Kurri inspected? I've been told Coalfields 4WD Service might be an option - any recommendations or suggestions?

Regards,
Ryan

Child restraint bar in 93 Vitara

Having the anchor points at the back door is a pain when trying to load gear in the back. Can you get an restraint bar fitted that runs along the back of the rear seats like some vehicles can have? If so, how much do they cost?

225/75/16 on Vitara?

Would 225/75/16 tyres fit OK on a 93 Vitara, or would they be too big (especially to remain legal in QLD)?

Also, are 16" rims easy to get?

Thanks for the advice. After reading plenty of threads on tyre size over the years, it appears that RBT checks aren't interested in tyre size - they're interested in intoxicated drivers. Not getting pinged for tyres in an RBT doesn't give me much confidence in legality. Whilst not getting fined ...

Has it always been that way? I'm fairly oblivious to the rules (obviously), having never needed to worry about them before now.

Hey Ryan, Congrats on the new truck ;) , Yea as stated already dont worry about the gearbox to much as they are a noisy thing anyway. As for the dash, it will just be a few screws in the lower part of the dash that hold the plastics to the support bar, grab a large phillips and start looking, easy ...

Hi from a new Vitara owner!

I recently picked up a 93 LWB Vitara for the wife. Seems to go alright, and was happy to get 517km from 43L for the first fill. Much better than what my troopy gets! Amazed at how different they are to drive than the troopy also - almost ready to sell the troopy and buy myself one now! I noticed a ...

Downsizing help - what to buy?

Currently driving a troopy pop-top camper. Although I love it, we're rationalising our cars, and I've decided to sell it and the wife's honda Civic, to go back to one smaller 4x4 vehicle. I'm looking towards getting a small 4x4, that is cheaper to register and run, and has 4 doors (planning to have ...
