Thought of something older to save on the initial purchase price? That way you can chuck the savings into a high interest saving account and accrue a little interest. Then spend it on mods(if thats you thing) or on fuel and servicing. I really dont think you can go past the NL Pajero(3.5 petrol) in...

the power to weight ratio on the xtrail is INCREDIBLE! - which means low-range is not so important.. Fail. If sand is his thing, an X trail may do the job. ( I should hilight the MAY bit) For that sort of $$ I would look at a Paj on gas .. mine running LPG is significantly cheaper to run than the c...

my budget is 8 - 14k thanks for the suggestion of the kia, might be worth looking into.. I'm hoping to find a car that uses 10L/100kms or less.. also hoping for less that 150,000kms the navara, hilux and triton petrol models seem to use 13L / 100kms or more.. not sure about the diesels, but i get th...

yeah.. im considering the bigger grand vitara, also considering the xtrail or rav4 (yeah I know they arent as hardcore offroad but i mainly do sand driving) diesel cars are a possibility, but unless its a significant economy boost (like less than 8L/100kms) then I'd prefer to stick with petrol due t...

most fuel efficient mid-sized 4x4s?
hey guys,
I want your suggestions for fuel efficient mid-sized 4x4s and utes.. I currently have a pretty efficient efi vitara.. but its only a 2 door and I need more room so ive been thinking about slightly larger 4x4s, just trying to find one thats relatively fuel efficient... suggestions?

rav4s in the Sand-dunes?
hey,
just wondering what you guys thought of rav4's performance in the sand dunes? ive been driving suzukis for years and im curious about how a rav4 would go... they seem to have a pretty good power to weight ratio
and i know you probably couldnt mod them much.. or do crazy rock-crawling

ive heard of cv joints and locking hubs needing replacing on the newer models for no apparent reason.. (not from hardcore offroading) The kind of driving I do is fast sand-dunes driving (yeah it gets pretty bumpy when u are going fast or up steep inclines) and a little gravel/mud stuff... mostly san...

older vitara vs newer (grand?) vitara - which is tougher
hey, So I get the impression that the older vitaras are tougher than the newer ones.. I have a 1.6efi 2 door vitara and i was looking at the newer v6 ones but they seem to break stuff easier like cv joints etc.. can anyone confirm this? im considering upgrading to a newer model, but I don't want som...

99.99999% It's the same as the carby box. They seem pretty durable - I'd just get a wrecker box and throw it in. Steve. thanks for the tip. what is the 0.1% difference then? don't they all have different ratios like the early 1.0 to 1.3 and then the 1.6 vitara to 1.6efi vitara, id assume the ratios...

be prepared that the gearing in sierras is difficult, its the only real down side to a sierra imho. They rev very hard to do 100-110, but their offroad gearing is average (too high). The offroad gearing can be rectified fairly easily by changing to a 1L tranny or getting a gearset put in, but this ...

the last time I spoke to someone about the gearbox, they were talking around $3500... im not sure if they were talking about re-co-ing the old one or a new re-co one.. but to me that seems like a waste of money. what kind of price should i expect for a re-co'ed gearbox? and what if one of the cogs i...

4agze vitara with a new gearbox.. suggestions?
Hey guys, So I have a 1996 2door vitara with an efi engine with an oil leak and a gearbox that 'crunches' into second gear when changing at speed (to keep the momentum in the dunes) so I'm thinking about putting in a 4agze and a new gearbox. every efi vitara ive looked at has some sort of oil leak, ...

*lol*... with all the discussions about 250kw 4age engines and skyline turbo engines, i thought I'd ask..
has anyone ever thought of putting a hyabusa or similar motorbike engine in their zook?.. what about a harley davidson? hehe ;-)

sticky 1st gear in a vit.. big deal or not?
hey guys looked at a 96 model vit tonight, looked pretty decent, a little oil around the engine (rocker cover gasket?), but that seems usual on these vitaras.. my main issue with it is: it was a bit tricky to get into 1st gear sometimes.. it seems a bit 'sticky'.. but doesnt make any bad sounds or a...
