Re: Starting Vitara Mods this weekend, Advice on hubs please

Those are 1.0 Sierra or GV solid drive flanges. You need to hunt down some Factory Aisin manual hubs.

Why not stay with the alloy 16" rims? There is nothing wrong with them but if you want a little more offset/backspacing have a look for GV/XL-7 rims.

Re: 1.6 engine conversion

Get hold of Ben and see if he will provide just the bits you need. You can use the Vit gearbox. Keep the section between the Vit gearbox and the t-case and get a bearing (180B rear wheel bearing I think :?: ) and a seal and you will need to modify the mount.

Re: 1.6 engine conversion

yes your right it is a stupid question. hahaha the vitara is a manual. so it will bolt straight up or will i have to fab up some mounts? yeah the wiring loom is the hing that is confusing me. Yes, you will need to deal with a mount. For $200 you could buy BenT's kit which deals with that and if you ...

Re: Swamper TSL vs. Trepador

My internals have worked fine.

On the Suzuki with bias tyres it seems that really low pressures work well on the technical stuff and by that I mean lower than 8psi which is why you need to look at beadlocks to get the most out of your tyre. At 15psi you weren't far off road pressure.

Yes. it will bolt up. There isn't much in the way of wiring to deal with. You need to wire the interlock(?) so it won't start in gear and the light for the selector. Gwagensteve and I have just put one in behind a G16A and he has done one behind a Baleno G16B as well.

Re: Swamper TSL vs. Trepador

The more i consider it i think maybe the simex et in 32x9.5-15 with some custom siping might just be more effective, and reliable - and i just accept theres no 'all rounder' that suits my needs. I don't get it, you talk about being engineered for 31's and wanting to stay to that but then you talk ...

Re: Swamper TSL vs. Trepador

The whole argument i should run larger than a 31/32 is still redundant though as im engineered to run that size tyre and it suits my needs just fine - im not going to go a larger size, full stop. If you are worried about staying legal then the Swamper won't work for you anyway as it isn't speed ...

I don't have a problem with the CV's.. the problem is the height.. the vitara will kick over most things.. just doesn't like the rocks.. To keep it Road legal in Qld you can only have 2" lift total (this includes tyres, body & spring) by doing a diff swap I should be able to get round this... The ...

Yes, use the rear. You can use a front one and swap in 26 spline sidegears but since ARB changed their sidegear pricing it is a pretty expensive option now. the actual price of the two main sidegears has not changed. its the addition of four matched spider gears to the kit that adds to the cost ...

The rears are all interchangeable if you are swapping a complete centre. It doesn't matter if it is 10 or 12 bolt, that is only an issue if you are just swapping the ring and pinion. To convert from 22 to 26 spline in the front just swap the side gears over. There is a slight difference (a few mm ...

If you want more travel out of the front you can flip the top strut mount or add a strut spacer (approx 50mm) to utilise all the available travel of the stock struts or add Old Man Emu struts which have more travel than the stock ones. If you try running flipped mounts or spacers with the OME struts ...

Given what you have done I can't see why you are now expecting it to flex much more than stock. You have lifted it a little at the the front but still have the same strut travel as before so no more flex there. At the back you have also lifted it and I assume your shocks may now allow approx another ...

In my limited experience of sand driving over the years more power and lower weight is the key along with appropriate tyres and tyre pressures. Low weight will also help with component durability. A 2.0 or V6 in a swb would be good. I don't think that the actual components in the GV's are any better ...

As you lift it the slip yoke will pull further out of the t-case so by adding a spacer you will push it back in. It is not needed on small lifts like 2".

Travel is the distance it moves from full compression to full extension. There is an amount of unused travel that can be gained by flipping the strut mount or adding strut spacers but it still won't have as much travel as the OME one. Droop which is what you are refering to is a separate thing.
