IMHO:

Feroza = bigger, more space, more driver comfort.
Sierra = cheaper and easier parts, more 4x4 options.

That is a question I may be able to answer once I've pulled the head. Possible warped head I suppose. The last time she stopped (before the breakdown that is) there was a disconcerting 'clink' as I walked away from the car, I remember thinking... "funny!"

It's been a while since I've been in here. Poor old feroza is sitting on the road side with a busted camshaft and god knows what else melted/shattered/bent. About to start the autopsy. I suppose I'd best start looking for a new head.

How do you break a camshaft anyway?

I had this a while back. Airbypass valve was playing up (jammed open) Test by putting a thumb over the intake to see if the surging goes away. I got a whole lot of RP7 down in there and somehow got it moving again by prying at it with a bamboo skewer (Special Tool #5436-99a)

I REALLY loved the new goop pasted over the top of the old goop... that was a nice touch. None of the bolts were tightened within the specified torque range, and the harder to reach ones were barely finger tight.

The feroza has developed a nasty rattle in what sounds like the bottom end when you rev it over about 2000 and also under various load conditions. It sounds better under heavy load (acceleration or decceleration) than it does under a light one ...

Seriously though, tough break man.

Mine has always drank about 10L/100km, sometimes a little better, sometimes a little worse. Not too much difference between drining open roads or in traffic. The unifilter i installed a month or so back has improved consumption marginally.

Hopefully once I get the colly wobbles out of my driveline ...
