IMHO: Feroza = bigger, more space, more driver comfort. Sierra = cheaper and easier parts, more 4x4 options. Stock standard the Feroza can outperform the Sierra off-road, but it doesn't take much to turn the sierra into an off-road monster. Some of the options you can put on the Suzi are simply not ...

Did something else cause it? That is a question I may be able to answer once I've pulled the head. Possible warped head I suppose. The last time she stopped (before the breakdown that is) there was a disconcerting 'clink' as I walked away from the car, I remember thinking... "funny!" Then drove up ...

Broken camshaft

It's been a while since I've been in here. Poor old feroza is sitting on the road side with a busted camshaft and god knows what else melted/shattered/bent. About to start the autopsy. I suppose I'd best start looking for a new head.

How do you break a camshaft anyway?

Fun, fun, fun. :)

I had this a while back. Airbypass valve was playing up (jammed open) Test by putting a thumb over the intake to see if the surging goes away. I got a whole lot of RP7 down in there and somehow got it moving again by prying at it with a bamboo skewer (Special Tool #5436-99a)

Not at highway speed and it happens a bit when you're braking? Weird. Sounds like something is moving back and forth. I've had the fan clatter on the fan shroud in the past. Thats the most likely chunk of fast moving plastic I can think of. I'd examine it for fresh wear and play. Otherwise... some ...

More quality work! I REALLY loved the new goop pasted over the top of the old goop... that was a nice touch. None of the bolts were tightened within the specified torque range, and the harder to reach ones were barely finger tight. On a side note, on the side of the engine block just above and ...

Much nicer now that i've replaced the exhaust manifold gasket. Before my 'little altercation' with a tree... I had option 3. The panel beaters replaced it with a generic sail area mirror with control knob (doesn't look daihatsu to my untrained eye). They just attacked the sail area with a ruddy great drill bit (left swarf hanging everywhere of course) for the ...

death rattle

I got a feeling that i'm in the market for a new donk. The feroza has developed a nasty rattle in what sounds like the bottom end when you rev it over about 2000 and also under various load conditions. It sounds better under heavy load (acceleration or decceleration) than it does under a light one ...

Mine has always drank about 10L/100km, sometimes a little better, sometimes a little worse. Not too much difference between drining open roads or in traffic.
