x2 You can use a cable off any Toyota thats long enough.
I put a $25 Hilux cable on 4 years ago after the needls jumped and its been perfect ever since

I would be checking the fuel cut solenoid 1st. It should make an audible click as it switched on/off.

I dont think the cops in WA are too harsh on the 50mm rule. There seems to be plenty of 4x4 getting around with closer to 100mm combined tyre and spring lift.

Buy a Gregorys for $29,pretty good for the price or watch out for the FSMs on ebay.

Ive had them on my 73 series for 4 years and they are still ok.
I adjusted them back to the softest level the other week and it made a small but noticeable differnce.
I think they are good value for the price
