Painting's all about preparation, spend the time to prep the surface to be painted and the results will be much better, if you choose to respray down the track will be much easier to rub back and respray.

Of course using enamel on enamel or acrylic on acrylic etc is a good start!

I would expect to see lots of messy crap in there water and oil if he's done any water crossing etc, i'd be inclined to do wheel bearings and even pull centre's if it's really messy.

I'd say rust would be the biggest thing to look out for on the FRP top model. Windscreen surround area, firewall etc maybe they have all been replaced with fibreglass surrounds by now? $8000 seems steep for an 89 it would have to be good to have a second look at! ok have a look at the length of the cable, the outer part is plastic if it breaks at some point the gap that is left from the broken bit pulls together making the cable shorter...

Ok i'm no expert but i would say it would take a lot to invert front shackles? Mine are vertical in the front maybe a couple of degrees more to the front, if they did invert then i would make some anti inverts or modify mine. Have'nt checked out the legal side of making your own or modifying but ...

Ok looks like you changed the first post to include the bit about different shocks. Should shocks be suspension limiters? I don't think so... Eliminate your suspension woes and buy a cruiser. :armsup: what else would limit down travel apart from shockies, or limiting straps which afaik no OEM ...
