There is a wrecker in W.A. called Nisscommercial or something like that, that I have used previously for getting the odd piece for my Terrano II 99 model. Maybe try google for the company.

Re: Eng warning lamp.

I recently had to take mine to nissan for the engine warning lamp (I have a 2.7tdi) It was a short in the passenger side rear break light. No one told me it wasn't working, so I never even guessed it would be a light that would throw up the engine warning light, but I guess it is an electrical fault ...

What kind of place can I take the intercooler to to get checked, re-welded ect? It the front corner (drivers side) closest to the intake manifold on the engine. It can't be to significant can it? As it doesn't even leave an oil drip on the carport floor.

Another unrelated question, can any diesel ...

Gearbox got rebuilt about 10000kms ago so I hope not!
Turbo on the way out? Would I notice other noises through the rev range?
Intercooler hoses seems fine. Seems to have a bit of blow by dripping from a front intercooler corners. Not sure if that would do it.
Thanks for the reply.

Hi,

My 2.7tdi has 160 000km on it 2.5inch exhaust and dump. No real problems so far. But........in 2nd, 3rd & 4th gear, when i start to accelerate at the beginning of its torque curve about 1800rpm, I get a ringing noise from the engine until rpms pick up about 400rpm's or so and then noise ...

Grave dig yes, but i'll use it to my advantage.

I have always seen the 2.8 TD Patrol as a good way to get into the solid axle (nice and solid, I am sick of loose tinny feeling IFS) patrol market.

I drive a Terrano II 2.7iTD , 4cyl 92kW @ 3600rpm and 278Nm @ 2000-2000rpm, 30 inch tyres on steel ...

correct, to a point. winding the boost up usually helps cool the engine, until the turbo starts to go horribly inefficient and the added heat from the turbo offsets the cooling done by the volume of air.

2.7Tdi hard to start when hot

Hey,

My 2.7tdi is getting hard to start when it is hot (after running), e.g. drive from work to bakery near home (long enough for it to get to temp and run for 30mins) and turn it off while I get coffee. Then I jump back in and try and start it and it just ticks over but doesn't fire. Once it fires ...

15inch rims to 16inch

Are there any issues (legally? as the car came with 15inch) in changing from a 15 inch rim up to a 16inch rim. I would like to change to 16inch rims, so I can go bigger tyres than 30inch, but still stay narrower than a 31 inch tyre.

Turbo diesels are most efficient at close to maximum load at the lowest rpm you can pull.
If it's been well tuned and blows no smoke then the efficiency keeps improving with load. As soon as you start blowing smoke, that's dollars going straight out the exhaust.

IMO unless you need the ute each ...

On a side note, I didn't use two stroke in this tanks fill up in the Terrano II. It isn't running as smooth, but in saying that i think I will get more km's out of this tank without the 2-stroke oil in in it. I probably need to remove the guess work ...
